bam is a better all round fighter. more complete technically. his footwork amd offense is more effective than both. he is just fighting at a higher level. tape and stats will verify that fact.

“Nakatani’s team was okay with the fight,” explained Robert Garcia, Rodriguez’s career-long manager and trainer. “I have a text message from Mr. Honda telling me that [Teiken] did not want the fight. I do not want to say that Nakatani rejected the fight. I talked to his team, his trainer Rudy Hernandez - we’re very good friends.

“So, I don’t want to say that Nakatani rejected the fight. I think it was more Mr. Honda didn’t want the fight between his two fighters, same with “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Bam as far as his two fighters facing each other.”

    Thanks

    He said, she said

Never seen a Japanese brother duck a fight in my life. It's not in their mental makeup or on accordance with bushido

Junto would send Bam-Rod to the shadow realm and unlike Bam-Rod he wants that Inoue smoke whilst Inoue is this side of 70

That footwork belongs to Loma. Bam-Rod is a huge fan of Loma and he stole it from him. Anyone who loves Loma or shows him love will wind up in my good books real fast but I just like to troll his fans because it amuses me

I didn't like it when he said he wouldn't fight Inoue for like 3 years or something IIRC as that was a female dog move

I give credit to Shakur when he's praised Loma too which he has on numerous occasions, including when Loma retired. He and his fans have spoke a lot of crap about Loma too though and I do hold grudges

The stats actually show that Shakur is the better fighter. Has a lower opponent connect to punch accuracy percentage than Bam does.
    PLUS MINUS +/-
    • SHAKUR STEVENSON: 20.2
    • JESSE RODRIGUEZ: 18.6

i stand corrected. i focused too much on one stat. bams +/- rating results in stoppages. none of his last 4 opponents have finished the race, while 3 of shakurs last 4 have. thats why i say he is more effective, and more complete technically. shakur surface punches, which ive noted for years, while bam can generate power from any position. that takes knowledge and technique, natural or learned, but its part of being complete.
i am curious to see how bams fight vs rungvisai compares to shakurs overall stats. thats the only fight i can think of where bam maintained a defensive approach for a significant amount of time.
another thing i should note, since the popular narrative is bull****, is that bam is already fighting guys bigger than him, while shakur is not small for his division. that makes a difference in difficulty of task.

Bump. Both Shakur and Bam put on a great performance this year against an unbeaten fighter that were supposed to be a tough test but they managed to show that they were a level above.

Yep. Both up against guys people thought would be a real test, and, yeah, they passed those tests with flying colors.

Bam does have it a bit easier than Shakur, you have to admit. Shakur has to grind out wins. Bam's got the power to one-shot opponents if he catches them right. Even though Puma lasted 10 rounds (credit to him being tough AF), Bam made that fight a lot easier for himself with how badly he broke Puma's nose early on. Shakur doesn't have the power to do that.

If I could graft Bam's offense onto Shakur's defense... yikes.

I’m genuienly starting to feel that Bam is the future p4p king once Usyk and Bud retire.

Maybe It’s the heat of the moment. The feeling might change after Shakur faces Lopez.

Bam-Rod should just fight Inoue in a super fight. He said he wants to in the future but I would prefer it if he would just say the fight likely won't happen because by the time he's up at 122, 126 or maybe even 130 Inoue will be old, shot or on his way out than say he'll fight him three years down the road when Inoue is 34-35 y/o.

There's 7lbs separating them from 115 to 122 and in terms of what each of them respectively weighs in the ring it's probably less than that and weight classes are almost rendered meaningless when we have massive weight bullies exploiting 24-36 hour weigh ins to come in way heavier than their much naturally smaller opponents and you have fighters campaigning 2 or 3 or more divisions below 'bigger' ones who in reality are actually smaller than them despite campaigning in higher weight classes

Bam-Rod jumped up 2 weight classes to fight Cuadras and his idol Loma was routinely giving away way more weight and reach than Bam-Rod would be giving away vs Inoue, if he was actually conceding any at all to him. If Loma can give away 20lbs and 6'' in reach to Haney and fight him in his hometown with a home ref and 3 home judges and routinely give away 8-15lbs and big or huge reach advantages then why is it such a big ask for the P4P greats of today from the US to do a fraction of that?

I'm not knocking Bam-Rod I think he's excellent but if he is truly one of the top 5 most skilled fighters in the sport and is as great as many claim he is why can't he put those skills to the test vs a slightly bigger Inoue? And I say this as someone who genuinely believes he is that good and his skills are on that level

He has a much better resume than Shakur who has only beaten 3 world champions and he was either bigger or the same size as them at worst not smaller or much smaller. Shakur has excellent skills and defence and definitely, like Bam-Rod, a worthy P4P top 10 talent with P4P top 10 elite skills. Both pretty complete fighters too who can land their shots vs any style but what Shakur has on Bam-Rod is that many of Bam-Rod's best wins came against old fighters who had a ton of miles on their clocks albeit they were still quality fighters at the time

Both are manufactured weight bullies who have yet to face real adversity. I don't think either of them has fought anybody younger or around the same age as them also both have been massive favorites going into all their fights. Both look highly skilled Bam is braver and more fan friendly, Shakur is a safety first runner. Time will tell and hopefully they both step up the level of competition in their next fight.
