No it won't, it simply means that he got beat by the best p4p boxer in the world. Losing to pac does not mean that Hatton is a Fraud, a bum or whatever he will be called on here. He could have easily stayed undefeated and not took on the likes of Floyd, and Pac... it's good that these fights get made. Losing to the top man does not necessarily mean your not talented. "Get the joe done..." pac is on fire and the best fighter in the world at the mo.
you can be talented and still not be as good as Shane Mosley. The debate is not wether Hatton is a bum, a fraud, or whatever. Noone even brought those words up until you did.
well hattons beaten 2 p4p fighters, koysta was #3, and castillo #8 at the time of the fight. and beaten numerous beltholders at 2 weights. williams or dawson haven't beaten a fighter in the top 20 p4p when they fought them.
When you come up short against the best, it will raise questions about you. Look at the people De La Hoya lost to, all of them will end up in the HOF. However, that doesn't stop people saying that he always came up short against the best fighters. If Hatton comes up short here again, you can expect similar statements to be made about Hatton.
This content is protected I was just replying to the comment that there will be more questions about Hatton if he.. "Can't get the joe done..." pac is on fire and the best fighter in the world at the mo. Anyway at the moment I's say Hatton, but at there peaks Mosley.
I see that as fair. It just annoys me that fighters who never get in there with the best never get the kind of solid critism as someone who does. If Hatton was still undefeated and never fought Floyd he would be rated higher then he is now. Anyway, I've gone off on one - back to the thread topic.
Tszyu was a good win, no doubt about that. However, Castillo did not deserve to be a top 10 p4p fighter. He looked awful against Ngoudjo. It was pretty clear that he wasn't the same fighter. Ricky caught him at the right time. And let's look at the beltholders that Ricky beat. After he beat Tszyu, the other belt holders were Mayweather, Cotto, and Mausa. Now clearly Maussa was the weakest belt holder. He was never that good of a fighter, he was a one hit wonder. Juan Urango was a paper champ that one his title via a very questionable decision. Malignaggi was highly overrated. Paulie is a one handed fighter that offers nothing but a jab.
thats just the way it is, as a boxing fan you have to try to look beyond that although its not always easy
What the ****? How could ANYONE call Ricky Hatton a better fighter than Shane Mosley?!?!?!?!?!? Even before last night, Mosley is 4 times the fighter Ricky Hatton ever was.
Where exactly is the comparison here? When Shane was at 35 he was ranked by the Ring as an ATG lightweight. He was beating the best guys at 35 and knocking everyone out with dominant performances. All his defense of the IBF at 35 came by KO. He then jumped 2 weight divisions and still carried on knocking guys out. He became the P4P best man on the planet by besting DLH and then went on to be a 3 weight world champ after rising to 54. He has consistently fought the best fighters out there irrespective of his own physical disadvantages. Meanwhile cupcake Ricky Hatton was raised on the WBU that he defended at least 15 times. He then meets Kostya at the twilight of his career and has been living off the win ever since. Shanes greatness was apparent many many years ago. Hatton on the other hand couldnt even make a succesful transformation 7lbs north and went scuttling back to 140. This comparison isnt even close nor even valid.
Im praying that one day we get Shane vs Hatton. Even in the twilight of his career Shane wins by murder.
