Better fighter today? Wladimir Klitscko or Ricky Hatton?

Brutal enough to send Wlad into a panic attack and sprawling to the canvas. Peter was green as hell coming into the fight, at 25 yearsold he gave Wlad all he could handle and never went down once in that fight, I would say it was pretty impressive showing for a fighter so young, especially against the best Heavyweight in the world, wouldnt you?

 

I personally think that Wlad would TKO him now if they fought.

Sam was better a few years ago because he was undefeated, good shape, and hadn't been in any wars.

 

Your probably right, though when you have the power and chin Peter has, anything's possible.

 

Peter was at his BEST in that fight, and will never be at that level again. That's a fact. Peter has been on the slide ever since, and I honestly don't think that he will ever regain the from that he had then. Peter being wild and unpredictable was all he had going for him in that fight. Had he tried to box a technical fight with Wlad, he would have been dominated even worse than he was... 10 rounds to 2.

 

I do agree with you for the most part, though if you watch Peter closely in that fight, he smothered the majority of his punches, especially on the inside when Wlad looked to be hurt, where now he picks his shots alot better.

I believe Peter was better in some aspects and worse than others, his jab was underused, his punches were even more looping, didnt go to the body, no footmovement, and he didnt even try to move his head out of the way of punches, all of which he improved over the last couple years. I will say that back in 05, he had a sense of invinciblity about him, which was gone after he fought Wlad, as well as being a better aggresive fighter than he is now.

 

Here is Peter earlier in his career. I believe that I have shown you this before. I think that he has clearly gone downhill.

Hattons fights against Tszyu, PBF and Manny(?) will be remembered in 50 years time, the type of fights you want to watch again and again because they have something Wlads dont - excitement and drama (bar Sanders)!

Whilst that doesnt exactly equate to Hatton being the better fighter I feel Rickys style is more natural and conducive to giving fight fans that special buzz. The actual question of who is the better boxer is very difficult given the 50% bodyweight difference between the two.

Anyone could look good against that class of oppostion, though if you asked me what Peter was in better shape, the answer is pretty obvious.
