Floyd Mayweather 50-0 or Roy Jones only through his first 50 fights which would end after the Tarver 1 fight.
Jones would have been 50-0 too if he retired after 50 fights and did not get disqualified against Montell Griffin

Floyd obviously the greater fighter but H2H I think prime RJJ was superior and would have been able to beat Floyd if they were both the same size.

Mayweather had a better career because RJJ tarnished his resume later on but had RJJ retired after beating Ruiz or Tarver the 1st time then this would be a very close call.

As for better fighter that's subjective RJJ at his peak was more unorthodox more athletic and looked more spectacular at his peak.

But Mayweather was a far superior technical fighter so it's what you prefer honestly.....

But I agree with @Flo_Raiden if you're talking in a P4P sense then I think RJJ would win a H2H match up with both men at their peak.

I used to think it was Floyd until I realized that Tarver has a case for being the best opponent Roy fought.

Prime Jones was better, and I don't even think it's close. NOBODY thought it was close back when both were in their primes.

Floyd managed to outdo Roy in greatness, but make no mistake, Floyd was NEVER as good as the circa 94-00 Jones.

I follow (unfortunately) and lot of your posts. You're very much a casual and I question how long you've been following the sport. You always spew a bunch of nonsense.

Prime Toney is better than anyone Floyd beat, and that's not even debatable.

First of all, I sincerely apologize for hurting your feelings.

As for Toney, if you think the weight cut affected him, fighting a peak Tarver at 175 is probably a more difficult proposition. Tarver outperformed Toney across the board against common opponents too.

Roy had a better peak but Floyd was more consistent so comes down to what you value more. Personally I value consistency so I'll say Floyd was better.

Agreed. Jones probably beats him pound-for-pound (probably, but certainly not definitely), but that’s hypothetical. What they did in their careers is concrete, & Mayweather comfortably beats Jones for mine there.

Roy Jones for me. Ironically, they are both plagued with the same problem legacy wise. They were both cherry pickers and protected fighters. Floyd never fought another ATG while they were Prime. He will never be able to shake that. And for that, he is probably around the 40 spot p4p ATG legacy wise for me. RJJ is higher greatness wise for me. And H2H puts him even higher. The problem Roy has is he campaigned for 2 years at 168. And after he beat Toney, he did nothing there. If he fought the better guys at 168 , even if he had to go on the road to do it and he won, the losses later in his career wouldn't really count against him as much. Sort of like SRL really didn't get knocked too much for his later career losses even tho RJJ was much more active than SRL, as an example. Floyd wasn't that active compared to Pac so to speak, as an example there. If RJJ tore thru 168 and racked up better wins, he would be sitting comfortably inside the top 20 of all time. And more realistically, top 15. AS it stands now, Floyd around 40 spot, RJJ around 26 spot for me

Roy Jones at 160 and 68 was an Alien but thinking back Mayweather at 130 was not that far off. He just didn't stay there that long. He didn't maintain that moving up.
