Didn't Hernandez (RIP) say he had cancer back then, didn't feel right for the Mayweather fight, and that's why he didn't fight anymore?

How old was Azumah Nelson when Genaro Hernandez beat him? 39 years old

That is the only notable name in his resume. He lost to Hoya earlier too.

Pacquiao-Sasakul is the better win for the following reasons:

    - Pacquiao was a green 19 year old who'd had no exposure to top-class training or coaching

    - Pacquiao was fighting on foreign soil

    - Pacquiao was facing a much more experienced, seasoned fighter than himself (so was Floyd, but Floyd had all the benefits of a top-class amateur career and top-class professional training and coaching)

    - Sasakul was a fringe p4p fighter at the time

    - Sasakul had never been stopped before

    - Hernandez was past his prime by the time he fought Floyd, Floyd was the last fight of his career at the age of 32 - Hernandez hadn't stopped any of his last 5 opponents before facing Floyd (and this included a guy with a 43-20 record!) - by contrast, Sasakul had won 2 of his last 5 title fights inside the distance

    - Pac was a clean KO stoppage, Floyd's was a retirement

    - De La Hoya had already forced a stoppage vs Hernandez, earlier than Floyd. The great Arbachakov could only outpoint Sasakul

    - Hernandez retired immediately after his fight with Floyd, Sasakul kept fighting for another decade and was never stopped again until he met p4p top 10 fighter Cristian Mijares in 2008, by which time Sasakul was 38 years old

Hernandez may be a "bigger name" to fight fans here in the West, but considering all of the circumstances Pacquiao-Sasakul was clearly the better win/accomplishment.

    :good

These were the reasons why Pacquiao-Sasakul was included in my 'Top 50 Wins Of The Decade, 1990-1999' thread, and why Mayweather-Hernandez did not:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257283

    As compared to:

I did include a Mayweather fight, which I felt was a better win:

This is primarily because Manfredy (like Sasakul) was at the top of his game at the time of the fight... Genaro Hernandez was not, in all fairness.

Hernandez made the P4P list Sasakul never did so on that basis Hernandez. 130lbs is a deeper division than Flyweight too

I'm not very familiar with Mayweather vs Hernandez, but there are tonloads of reason why Sasakul was one of Pac's best wins.
I don't want to reiterate what was posted already, but to put it simply: never been stopped, lineal champ, went on with his career afterwards (not shot) and had all the tools to beat the green and malnourished Pac.

Mayweathers legacy would be so much better if he beat Marquez in mexico? Hatton in England etc?

not really Hatton had wild hype at the time maybe more credit but people would have said he should have won anyway.

Mayweather did bend over backwards for De La Hoyas cash at 154 which was admirble.

This americans not fighting outside usa is bit stupid when you consider how many fighters from elsewhere want to fight in the states.

Hatton did. he said it was a dream. Calzaghe wanted to fight in Vegas.

Im irish and have no problem with guys like Bernard Dunne, john duddy, andy lee all moving to the states to train or fight its what they have to do. Andy Lee fighting out of Limerick his whole career wouldnt have made him a star

Noone expected Pac to win that fight. So it was a big upset win. Who was favored in the Mayweather/Hernandez fight? Since Pac won as an underdog i have to pick him in this poll.
