FMJ's shoulder roll style gives him the edge in counter-offense but it seems like Andre's method of controlling the opponent on the inside depends less on reflex and more on controlling the arms of the opponent and pummeling him while doing so. Andre's style is a little like stand up grappling, with the focus on staying inside of the opponent's center. Andre also allows him to punch with both hands, while Floyd tends to use only the right hand as a counter and the left hand to protect the body. Which fighter has the better inside technique?
Ward. Abdre seperates better. Floyd cotto, castillo, oldest oscar not enough pull away!! andre so under appreciated here.
Ward... Simple.. he keeps his right or left glove up to protect his head from opponets power shots up inside.. He also pretty good at countering once he get hit on the glove that he protects himself with.. Dre is comfortable on the inside .. Floyd knows his Defence will keep him out of the fire but when he is on the inside he has problems being offensive and still using the sholder roll D.. Especially against the ropes because he can't back up anymore..
Holding isn't inside fighting god damnit... What mayweather does, slipping punching, blocking punches and countering.. that's inside fighting.. Marquez is a brilliant inside fighter too.. Ward isn't.. what he does is illegal.. Just like Hopkins.. or Molina ( in his last bout against Kirkland)...
Not illegal, just different approaches. He hits the guy and keeps him from attacking back with the holding. FMJ's blocks, slips and counters are nicer to look at but his counters is usually his right hand because his left arm protects his body. Andre can use both hands on the inside because he's square on and uses his hands alternately to stop block and hold and to counterpunch.
i like mayweather better on the inside because of how many times i seen him fight like that and the people he has fought.ward is beast on the inside as well though, liked him in that froch and kessler fights. he aint running like dirrel does at times.james tony was the best inside fighter, not ever but from as far as i can go back.
Theyre both brilliant but I think FMJ is lucky that Ward is not in the same weight devision as he is because beleive me this Ward charachter seems unbeatable to me......
Floyd. I would especially go back to his early days when he threw more. He is really sneaky with his punches as well.
