ODLH, not only did he fight better opposition he fought a variety of styles which is something i dont see when i look at Calzaghe's record, i think he fought a lot of aggressive fighters that come straight ahead, Hopkins is the only slickster he fought with any quality but he was old and i dont think Calzaghe won that fight, not to say i thought Hopkins won it either.

isnt even close imo, oscar fought EVERYONE!

imagine how much better off the sport would have been if everyone fought the best like oscar did

......and lost each time he faced a good fighter.

There's no question Hoya faced the better opposition; but he FAILED each time he stepped up.

    He failed vs
    - Quartey ( he robbed him, whatever nuthuggers will say)
    - Whittaker (gift dec to the cash cow)
    - Mosley (twice)
    - Trinidad (he ran out of fear of being hit)
    - Sturm (who loses to friggin sturm ???)
    - Hopkins (fought for the middle title while forcing the 39 year old champion to come under the limit-soooo cool)
    - Mayweather (and PBF went easy on him)
    - Pac (thought he would easily win vs a midget; how brave)

After getting gift dec vs Quartey and Whittaker, his head grew soo big judges turned on him and put him back where he belonged.

That's 9 friggin losses in my book; his best win came vs a roided Vargas that Trinidad softened up for him.

Give me Joe for the legacy any time of the week.

Remember not to swallow next time you meet Hoya; you might get AIDS.

I ****ing despise De La Hoya, but at least he fought the top guys there were to fight while they were on top. And as much as I hate to admit it, he deserved the decisions against Tito and in Mosley II. Also, Quartey and Whitaker were at least decently close fights, so I can't judge those against him. Compared to that Calzaghe has a big fat load of nothing his resume. Regional fighters who never made it to the top of anything and the old remains of two great fighters.

That said, it was a shitload of fun watching Mosley outwork Oscar in their first bout, or how B-Hop turned Oscar into his *****, and as for the Pacquiao fight... I watched that one with a big smile on my face. Karma's a *****, Oscar.

Boxing is a contact sport., not a track meet.

Hoya didn't deserve the Tito dec; a fight is 12 rds, not 9.

Who would have won in a 15 rds fight ?

Calzaghe had his bum of the month club, but at least he never put on his track shoes when facing big punchers hoping judges would reward his good looks.
