Who's had the better career? You have DLH: * 6 division world champion * 10 championship belts aquired * faced over 20 world champions * 25-4 in championship fights * 80% KO ratio key wins - Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker You have Tito * 80% KO ratio * 3 division world champion * 5 championship belts aquired * unified titles in 2 weight classes * 20-1 in championship fights * faced over 14 world champions * 6 yrs as welterweight world champion * 6yrs as welterweight champion, and IBF record 16 title defenses at welterweight key wins - DLH, Pernell Whitaker, Fernando Vargas, and William Joppy so who's better?
De La Hoya for me, isnt close either imo, he beat the better fighters in more weight classes and was robbed when they actually fought. This aint to say Tito isnt a great boxer, just not as great as Oscar De La Hoya..
Tito had the harder road & was more exciting to watch! All of Puerto Rico loved Tito. Most of America that liked Oscar were not boxing fans. Just when he was winning over the hard core fans he punked out on fighting Margarito! Tito has the better legacy!:happy:happy
Oscar beat Vargas, Campas, Obba Carr & several others that had the hell beat of them by Tito first! Otherwise Oscar would not have beaten them!:nono
DLH faced 8 undefeated fighters ... lost to 3 of them ... (4 if you count Sturm) Tito gave DLH, Campos, Carr, Vargas, and Reid their first loss ... all were very talented fighters.
de la Hoya.Beter competition, moved 30 lbs in weight.Fan friendly.Beat Trinidad, don't care what those robbers said.
Your question is biased in your key wins category. Hoya's should read. Chavez, Whitaker, Quartey, Vargas. Tito's should read Vargas, Mayorga, Joppy. (Pernell was too shot by this time to be a key win). DLH as a win just brings controversy.
No you see Whitaker was still at the top of his game ... so was Chavez ... I left out Quartey but hey my fault ... Vargas was done after Tito ... so was Oba Carr ... I should add on Campos to Tito's since he was the man to give him first loss ...
