Better offer: $4m to fight Pac, or $10m to fight Canelo?

Which is a better offer?

  1. Garcia's $4m + PPV (up to $2m) @ roughly 17%

    57.1%
  2. Golovkin's $10m (no PPV) @ approx. 20-30%

    42.9%

Danny Garcia: established star that has lost luster recently by fighting poor opposition and putting on poor performances.
Offered: $4 million purse + potential upside
Opponent: Manny Pacquiao (est. $20m purse)
    Split: est. 17%

Gennady Golovkin: rising star, arguably top 10 P4P, KO artist.
Offered: $10 million purse (flat fee)
    Opponent: Saul Alvarez (est. purse????)
    Split: est. 20-30%

Note: Is Canelo-Golovkin entire purse higher than the Pacquiao-Garcia purse?

Pacquiao's last 3 opponents' purse (not counting Mayweather)
Timothy Bradley: $4m purse + est. $2m PPV
    Chris Algieri: $1.67m
    Brandon Rios: $4m
    Average: $3.2m

Canelo's last 3 opponents' purse (not counting Cotto)
Liam Smith: Can anyone find this?
    Amir Khan: $2m
    James Kirkland: $1.3m
    Average: $1.65m

At the end of the day, do any of us watch a fight and walk away disappointed because we felt the split was unfair? Lol

The fan's perspective is different than the fighter's perspective, obviously. As a fan I couldn't give less of a **** what these people are paid. If I was fighting that would be on the top of the list of my priorities. The Danny Garcia situation is different than the Golovkin situation. GGG vs Canelo would be a big fight because of both fighters. GGG is a draw in boxing. Danny Garcia doesn't have the same star power. If Garcia walks away from a 4 million dollar payday to fight Pacquiao he's...honestly an idiot. If Golovkin walks away from a flat fee for a Canelo fight then in his case he's being smart.

Well GGG is not nearly the star Canelo is,he is still a star. And i guess he just wants a cut instead of a flat fee. But if they're really offering him ppv upside on all ppv, not just after they sell a certain amount then it's a good deal for him. I wish he'd take it,just cause i wanna see the fight. They should both be bending to make this.

The offers are not comparable, as it's two offers from two different fighters to two different fighters. WTF?

Golovkin-Alvarez is a way bigger fight than Pacquiao-Garcia. Way bigger.

will GGG be the A side when he Knocks out the Ginger haired Mexican? He will do just that in 4-6 rounds if Canelo doesn't run- and he wont :)

I'd say that they are roughly equivalent. They are both about double the biggest purse the other guy has ever had and more than they can make fighting someone else. Garcia and Golovkin should both accept those offers.

GGG is the fifth biggest draw in boxing today only behind Pacman, Klitschko, Canelo, Joshua.
