Can I just ask you please what your opinion is on Elvis Presley's music, and specifically how highly you rate his voice and him as a singer?

Also what's your favourite album of his?

For me, it would have to be From Elvis in Memphis as every song on it is very strong (no filler at all) and it features a number of my favourite songs of his. The instrumentation is top draw too.

Are you an Elvis fan too? I'm a massive Elvis fan, I own about 30 old vinyl records of his, maybe I should do an Elvis Top 30 thread too.

 

Of course, he was my childhood hero when I was a young boy and I wanted to be him lol. I kind of went off him for a while when I was, I dunno, between the age of 10-20, but then I started listening to his stuff again and I realized what a truly great singer he was and how many great tunes he recorded.

Do it lol. I could probably do one of my own if I really put some thought into it, and you know how much I hate doing lists of my favourite things lol

 

Same here actually. I listened to Elvis my entire childhood before I got into Metal at around 9, my older sisters were Elvis fanatics and it rubbed off, and like you drifted away util I was around 25, then got back into him and I remember how much I love his music, HBO has an excellent 4 hour documentary on him that recently debuted, you should check it out. I was actually thinking about going back by Graceland in Memphis last year after the Hurricane hit, it was between going back through New Orleans and Memphis or Savannah and Charleston, and I chose the easier option.

I had a bunch of his albums, used to watch his films when they were on TV, and I even tried to style my hair like his, when I was a young boy that is.

That documentary sounds interesting I'll have to check it out.

I'm not sure what my #1 would be but Suspicious Minds would be right up there.

I've seen everyone of his films, and have them n VHS. Blue Hawaii, Paradise, Hawaiian Style and Fun In Acapulco are my favorites, sense a trend there?

Hopefully I'll get around to it, non Hurricane forced some time later this year or next, and don't worry, you'll see them, all 3 or 4,000. They'll have to drag me out of there.

Those two will definitely be in my top 10, especially An American Trilogy, its absolutely haunting, as will these two. Both very underrated.

I don't remember if I had that one when I was a kid. I had a bunch of his LPs back then but I don't remember which ones they were now. I've heard some of his live performances in Vegas though and they're great.

I was checking out some of his rehearsals on YT the other day.
