I think most will give it to Spinks at the top for Holmes, even at 35, and Qawi, Muhammed, Johnson, and Lopez are also very impressive. Cooney adds something because of his size and power. Whether you give him Holmes 2, that most thought he lost, is up to you. Spink's problem is that thereafter, there is a big crash in quality. This far, no Usyk opponent is going to be mentioned in the same breath as Holmes, but he has a solid 11 wins against other titlists, and some are quite good and growing their legacies. No wrong answer here. Two great fighters. Well it's a hard one TBH. Usyk has a few better P4P wins because he beat more fighters with a considerable size advantage over him. But I rate some of the fighters Spinks beat as greater fighters despite not having the size advantages. Holmes is far greater than Fury and I consider that the best win by a considerable margin from either fighter. Considering it was Spinks first fight at Heavyweight and he ended an ATG Heavyweights title run. The other names are up for debate but I consider the likes of Marvin Johnson, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Eddie Mustafa, Muhammad, to be historically greater fighters than any of Usyk’s Cruiserweight opponents. But then Usyk overall has a considerably better Heavyweight record and has more good wins against bigger world class Heavyweights. So it's subjective in regards to how you see it honestly.
Usyk. Has Holmes' achieved more than Fury, sure, but I think Fury would be a tough night for Holmes. I think the Holmes vs. Fury is closer than you are making it out to be. Besides that, I think Usyk has the better secondary wins (AJ, Dubois) at HW. Additionally, Spinks held a significant size difference against all of those guys you mentioned at LHW. Usyk was a little bit bigger than the CWs he fought.
Holmes was way past his best and Spinks struggled, Usyk nearl;y knocked Fury out and beat him comprehensively in the rematch, Spinks never fought a fighter as big as Fury.
It's nothing to do with whether or not Fury would give Holmes a tough night. We're talking about the status of both fighters. Fury is probably just inside the top 20 Heavyweights of all time. Holmes is virtually recognized most of the time as a top 5 Heavyweight of all time or not far off it. So beating Holmes in Spinks's first ever Heavyweight fight is a bigger achievement and a more notable win I don't see how it can't be. As for the other stuff you said I've already stated that Usyk has beaten more notable bigger men. But if we're talking strictly about the status of Usyk’s Cruiserweight opponents and comparing them to Spinks's Light Heavyweight opponents. Spinks's best opponents at Light Heavyweight I'd consider to be historically greater than Usyk’s best Cruiserweight opponents size advantage or not.
Holmes is significantly above Fury for whole career agreed but who was more dangerous Holmes in 1985/86 or Fury in 2024? I would say in both cases they were faded but still very dangerous.
That seems unlikely, as wasn't Spinks operating under same-day weigh in conditions? If he was, coming in at 166lbs for some of his first pro fights, suggests he was in the correct weight class. That is a big difference in terms of sporting rules compared to the ones Usyk has been operating under. Given that condition, I think it is fair to say Spink's achievements under the concept of pound-for-pound are greater
