Looking at each of their primes - which I'll suggest is: Tyson - Nov 1986 (Berbick)- Jun 1991 (Ruddock II) (4 yrs, 7 months) Lewis - Feb 1997 (McCall II) to Jun 2003 (Klitschko) (6 years, 4 months) Tyson = 15 fights (14-1, 11 KOs) Lewis = 14 fights (12-1-1, 8 KOs) Who was more dominant? Who had the better competition?
Ive always thought prime Tyson would of been too much for nearly every heavyweight there has ever been.
Tyson was the better fighter, even though I prefer Lewis. Tyson around the time of the Pinklon Thomas fight in '87 really was one of the all-round best heavyweights of all-time.
Tyson's prime is largely a myth. Sure he was exciting and dangerous but any of the genuine elite level heavyweights would have had his number I believe, including Lennox Lewis.
While I agree with this post to an extent I do still think an 80's Tyson would beat a decent number of ATG/Elite heaveyweights.
I think Lewis was 2 tall and had too good a jab, straight right combo for Tyson. It would have went something similar to Tysons loss against Douglas.
Lewis all day every day, Tyson would cause problems early on, would Lewis would work out Mike and TKO him somewhere near the end, Im saying thre 10th
Hard to say since Tyson didn't fight too many great guys during his supposed prime. It'd be a hell of a lot more competitive than their actual fight, however.
I still don't think most people understand how good of a fighter Lennox was. The man was not to be ****ed with in his prime.
