You really think the second was arguable? That I've never heard before. Castillo himself didn't seem to think so when interviewed after the fight.

    Mayweather has a great resume.

Ali has (an old) Archie Moore, Sonny Liston, Floyd Patterson, Ernie Terrell, Joe Frazier, Jimmy Ellis, Ken Norton, Bob Foster, George Foreman, Leon Spinks, Larry Holmes, Trevor Berbick...

Plus George Chuvalo, Ringo Bonavena, Jerry Quarry, Earnie Shavers, Jimmy Young and many others who'd been champions in another era.

    End of discussion.

Fair enough Ali was further from his best. I didn't really think Castillo won either but the first fight there is a case sure that was a close one.

I know..Im the only one who thinks so. But even if May won it was close like 115-113.

I think I had Floyd by about 3 pts, but he won his rounds clearly so there was nothing to dispute.

Don't get me wrong, I think Floyd put on a quite boring points stealing effort, a taste of his usual MO during his second career, but it was effective nonetheless.

Mike Tyson is the best ever, but I judge "the best" based only on H2H criteria.
For the greatest, I take into account what a boxer achieved in his era, ability for his era, plus impact on the sport (again, for his era).
With this in mind Louis and Ali are the 2 greatest HW's ever.
But neither is in my top 5 best ever.

I need to tell you something.

I don’t want you to get really upset though.

In 1990, James Douglas TRICKED Mike.

That guy is something else isn’t he.

He slagged Ali off to death.

Yet has just informed us that his GOAT is Mike.

    Ha!

You couldn’t make it up could you.

    I loved Mike.

I grew up in that era.

    But come on.

Slaughtering Ali, then admiring a guy who only had 5 good years from a 20 year career.

    Laughable.

You can't ****in' read, can you ?!?
I said Mike is my BOAT / TBE, not my GOAT.

    best ever ≠ greatest ever

Like I already said, for me the best ever is the one with the highest peak form, which in boxing means H2H ability.
As for the greatest, I judge more based on achievements and impact on the sport, analyzed while taking circumstances into account.

Longevity is irrelevant to H2H ability or to how much I admire a boxer.

    Yes.

    I understand.

    But the point is this:

Mike is your best fighter of all time, based upon only FIVE YEARS of activity.

Just FIVE years of activity, whilst not having beaten any prime ATG’s.

    Now I LOVED Mike.

I used to rent VHS videos of his from the mid 80’s.

    Not just of his fights.

But of his greatest fighters of all time etc.

He had VHS videos which he presented as a young fighter.

I loved the guy like you do.

    However:

You cannot rubbish Ali’s career, whilst at the same time, you idolise a guy who only had just five years of greatness.

That is ridiculous, and a complete INSULT to Ali’s legacy.

You say that Ali is overrated.

Yet Mike too is also terribly overrated by many.

Because Mosley was 40 and he beat a Margarito who has a dubious asterisk* on his record due to the loaded gloves.

It was an impressive performance from Mayweather, but 40 is 40.

Anytime a Tyson fans calls another fighter overrated, that is a Freudian slip, a projection, and admission that their favorite fighter is overrated.

    38 and pfp number 3 certainly isn’t 40.

He was number 41 though. You seem a little confused.
