I try to be fair. No Neck was making some good points. It's his right to believe Foreman isn't a tip ten hw atg. However it's a minority belief, and a belief not shared by most boxing historians, trainers, and analysts.

Early losses hardly preclude one getting big fights later on.

Regardless I would think Williams rates extremely low vis a vis Mayweathers opponents. He doesn't appear in the yearly ratings for either 65 or 66
What makes you think he's on the level of even Manfredy or Ndou?

Foreman never really had a dominant period for more than a few years (granted he was a bit unlucky to run into Ali and winning a heavyweight title at age 45 a is one of the best achievements in the sport so I would probably have him in a top 10)

Boxing fans in general tend to be extremely biased to the fighters in that era.

I would think the following could reasonably be rated before Foreman
    Jeffries
    Johnson
    Dempsey
    Louis
    Charles
    Marciano
    Liston
    Ali
    Holmes
    Tyson
    Holyfield
    Lewis
    Wladimir

@NoNeck, why are all of Floyd's best wins against guys not at their best?

    De La Hoya was old
    Mosley was old
    Pacquiao was old
    Canelo was green

You never responded to this, why is it that Floyd never beat a great fighter in his prime?

Usyk just entered, knocking Forenan even further back.

I'll take your word. If Benitez wasn't right in his losses at the end of his career I'm going to look at them differently

The guy who was an undefeated unified champ in his twenties was prime.

Then you concede that Canelo was barely above Trout and Lara level at his best ? Nice.

I didn’t concede anything and Lara was a really good 154. Better than Duran at that weight for sure.

    Interesting list.

I think he was one of the few powerhouses from then who's power translates to being deadly even today who and relied on using his strength size to bully people. But from the 00s and onwards the average heavy is 230-235+ so it would be harder for Foreman to do that and he wasn't very mobile on his feet like an Uysk who is funny enough only a bit smaller than 70s Foreman to expose the gas tanks of the bigger guys. But he is a danger in any era of course.

Tyson's last two losses in real fights were to "cans". I don't hold them against him. I don't even hold the Lewis loss against him because he and Lewis were both past it.

Couldn't care less, Duran was better in all the rest.
