He did fight Roy and Calzaghe :patsch McCallum was pretty much done by mid 90s and he was jumping to lightheavyweight. You're reaching by naming a bunch of 168 lb'ers, a class Hopkins never even fought in. His middleweight contemporaries were Joppy, Holmes, Trinidad, etc. when he actually became champ. Not his fault no one would give him a shot at a title.

The fact that you're crapping all over Hopkins for beating Trinidad when pretty much everyone was picking Trinidad by KO shows you really have no unbiased opinion in this discussion. You hold the Wright fight against Trinidad, but that was after Tito hadn't fought in like 2 years.

I know you're a HUGE Mayweather fan who will defend him to no end, and even just created a thread to try and discredit Hopkins just because you got butthurt by this thread, proves that :deal

Many think Hopkins won and oh yeah.....he was 40 freaken years old????????:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Let's see your manz try and fight a #1 contender at the age of 40 and see how he fares.

Jermain Taylor was a very solid B+ guy with the athletic qualities that always gave Bernard trouble. He was a really good fighter. In fact, I'd say Taylor at the time Bernard fought him would be better than anyone Floyd has fought.

Hopkins didn't lose either fight anyway. I had him winning 1 and drawing 1. Taylor achieved nothing in either fight except tepidly outworking a guy who no longer had the gas tank to be active for 12 rounds without taking breaks.

and he deserved the win because of it. Hopkins did absolutely nothing for the first half of the first fight.

I had Taylor winning both times, close but clear.

Yup. His body in his next fight against Tarver proved that he should've been fighting at LHW for years. He gave Taylor too much respect because he's a defensive minded fighter first and foremost and when JT came in with his wild combos, Hopkins became defensive. Yeah, all JT pretty much did was outwork Hopkins. That's it. Hopkins landed all of the clean, hard shots.

    bhop by a country mile.

it's not even close. his win over trinidad alone trumps anything floyd has done.

Ok, that last part is full of ****.

I choose Hopkins due to his longevity, and age. If floyd would just stop jumping weight divisions, and actually leave his mark, and collect straps, It would be close. But even so, I don't like comparing resume's of fighters in two separate weight divisions.

Joppy, Holmes and welterweight Tito who did nothing at middleweight is not good enough sorry.

Floyds contempories at SFW were just better.

We are talking prime Calzaghe and semi-prime Jones when Hopkins was at his best aswell.

Mayweather beating Marquez at welter is better then Hopkins beating Tito. Whereas Marquez is still elite and schooled Pacquiao. Tito was shown to have been fairly one dimensional against Oscar years earlier and further exposed by Hopkins and Wright.

I'd readily admit that Roy Jones Jr is far and away greater then Mayweather.

Hopkins ruling a terrible division, getting blown out by Roy, never challenging himself until he hit 40, never fighting a prime Toney, Calzaghe or rematching Roy who took his soul, beating he likes of Tarver, Pavlik and Sturms leftovers, sorry doesnt do it for me, not Mayweathers level.

name one win on floyds ledger that's better than that. trinidad was a pure beast when hopkins beat him.

also...hopkins 20 something defenses trumps anything floyd has done as well.

i haven't even gotten into his wins over tarver, wright, pavlik, pascal....all of which trump floyds wins too.

i think both have accomplished enough that u can compare, weigh and contrast their accomplishments. i'm not big on p4p lists...but u can definitely speak on resumes and accomplishments.

I think Hopkins has better wins over Floyd, but saying that Hopkins sole win over a much smaller Trinidad does not eclipse everthing Floyd has done.

tito was a pure beast if his opponents stood in front of him
winky - tito was the most one sided super fight ever made !

after saying that, hopkins' win over tito was a pure masterclass

:hi: Bye bye credibility. That's one of the best wins of the last 15 years, period. Tito was a 3/1 fav going in while Mayweather was a 3/1 fav going in.
