Who has the better resume. I know this is before the Usyk fight and that would be a huge win for Fury if he could pull that off but as of today who's resume is better
Riddick Bowe for my money. Riddick was a great fighter that had a short prime. Fury is a guy with a lot of wasted talent IMO. Riddick beat multiple former Heavyweight title holders while Fury has a win over Vlad at the end of his career and two over Wilder. If Fury beats Uysk, I will change my tune.
Despite me not liking Fury there honestly isn't much to choose between them, Bowe of course has the best single win over an ATG in his prime aka Holyfield. But Bowe doesn't have a 2nd best win as good as Fury beating Wilder. Putting a gun to my head i'd probably give the edge to Bowe as he has a bit more filler to his record, and beating fighters who were once world champions or in some cases went on to become world champions gives Bowe the slight edge for me. But if Fury beats Usyk then he has a better resume than Bowe IMO.
Bowe, but not by much. Bowe's only fights against the best of his day were the Holyfield fights. Fury can at least hang his hat on Klitschko, WilderX2, and Whyte as a legit top contender. But realistically, HolyfieldX2 wins this, and in Bowe's era, even the third string guys's would have been competitive in this one. I think narrowly but clearly Bowe.
2 wins over evander > 2 wins over wilder. below that i think bowe beat more quality guys. neither is by a mile but both together give bowe a decent edge imo.
I don't know why everyone seems to forget Fury dethroned a dominant champion in Wlad. Their resumes are comparable but a win over Usyk would give it to Fury pretty easily as it would make him the clear number 1 of his era.
Top 20 wins combined, with 20 points for best win, 1 point for 20th best win: Holyfield 1 - 20 to Riddick Bowe Holyfield 3 - 19 RB 39-year old Wlad - 18 TF Wilder 2 - 17 TF Wilder 3 - 16 TF Hide - 15 RB Tubbs - 14 RB Whyte - 13 TF Past prime Thomas - 12 RB Seldon - 11 RB Biggs - 10 RB Chisora 2 - 9 TF Chisora 1 - 8 TF Cooper - 7 RB Coetzer - 6 RB Donald - 5 RB Wallin - 4 TF Washed up Dokes - 3 RB Cunningham - 2 TF Chisora 3 - 1 TF Bowe = 122; Fury = 88 I've excluded the Golata DQ wins for Bowe, for obvious reasons. If Fury had been awarded the Wilder 1 fight, which most people scored to him, it would be close, but Bowe would still have the edge.
The Golota fights don't seem to factor in in any reply so far. They were wins technically, so a bit tricky what to make of them resume wise perhaps.
Disagree. Hide won a world title strap, Chisora didn't. Hide got as high as #6 in the Ring magazine rankings, Chisora was never ranked. Most importantly, it was clear to me from watching both, that Hide was the better, more dangerous fighter. All that said, repostioning Hide below Chisora on my list of Bowe and Fury's respective best wins, would still result in the indicator that Bowe had the better win resume, so it's largely immaterial to the threads discussion point.
Holyfield in his prime was better by a mile than anemic old Wlad or no-skills Wilder, the two guys that underpin Fury's resume. I like the way that Fury rematched the useless dosser twice but when he had to step up to the plate against a fired up Wlad he shat the bed.
