Camacho wasn`t as good as Taylor at that stage of his career, Taylor was in his prime when he fought Camacho and landed far more shots than Camacho did v Chavez, Taylor was far better at 140 than Camacho was.
Even if Taylor was better than Camacho(I dont think he was) the way Chavez beat Camacho was far more impressive making it a much better win
What’s even more impressive than that is Floyd shutting down the current pfp number 1 at age 36 while giving up 15-20 pounds in ring.
Camacho wasn't the same fighter at 140lbs that he'd been at lightweight and was coming off a loss and a close SD win over Haugen. Plus, he wouldn't go on to accomplish all that much after the fight.
Yes much more impressive because he fought them straight up didnt use a catchweight to try and artificially gain an advantage
Canelo agreed to the terms and shed an entire 1.5 pounds for the weigh in compared to his previous fight, then outweighed Mayweather by about 20 pounds on fight night. It would require extreme delusion to believe that Maywether had a weight advantage against Canelo. Fun fact: Whitaker's lightest weight from May of 92 onward conspicuously occurred for the Chavez fight, when he came in at 145. For his other fights, he came in between 154 and 146.
So why did he make the catchweight? He probably didn't need the minor weight drain but you can't ignore it. Floyd did it to himself, if you want full credit for the win you have to fight straight up. It wasn't the first time either he had a catchweight vs Marquez and then didn't even make that weight. Another potentially elite win that Floyd didnt fight straight up, Marquez was top 3 P4P.
"Potentially" elite against Canelo. FOH. Go make a list of 36 year olds who moved up in weight to beat an undefeated unified champion. Chavez did the same to Whitaker for his L.
The fact that he was run close both times is an indication of where he was at in terms of quality prior to meeting JCC.
