You could also say Reid was very unlucky not getting the nod over two of the longest reigning Super Middleweight champions in Calzaghe, Ottke.

And neither Ottke or Calzaghe rematched Reid either which is even more injustice.

I had Reid beating both Ottke and Calzaghe.

Good post. I was a big Kessler fan, but he's really not beaten any greats. Beat some very good guys,m aboiut it. Hell, Ottke has a better resume than Kessler. and NO ONE ups him as a great champ

I had that 115-113 Calz, but Reid did push him hard in the last 6 - felt it was close but Zags edged it. That's a far cry from the Ottke / Redi fight which was closer to 10-2 Reid!

The SMW was completely and totally Calzaghe's by the end of his campaign. The HW division was never truly Joshua's at any point in time.

Only bad thing about Calzaghe is he just missed Andre Ward, Dirrell, Froch etc. before they all came into their own.

gollumsluvslave said nothing about outclassing. He made the argument that since there is a KO loss on the resume, there can´t be any comparisons to be made.
Don´t putt in if you can´t properly read the argument.

And I will clarify for you what I clarified for gollum: You can compare the wins. Just because someone was the better boxer doesn´t mean they automatically have the better resume.
I think Josuas´s wins, despite his losses, are of comparable quality of those that Calzaghe had.
Calzaghe, despite his talent and skill, spent most of his career fighting subpar opposition. Don´t get me wrong, he has some really good W´s on his resume, but there are not that many.
Joshua got rolling once he picked up that IBF belt. Unfortunately inactivity settled in after the Ruiz loss. But Joshua still has time and could surpass Calzaghe.
And I don´t think I stated that Joshua had the better resume, at least I didn´t intend to.

 Giving any sort of praise to Joshua on this site gets some people really butthurt. Amazing.

I think Joshua has beaten 7 guys ranked by Ring.

Fury has beaten 3, but you could add 1 more since he beat Wilder twice.
Wilder with the strong 2, altho he did fight Ortiz twice, so technically 3?

 Did I really get it right? Because that´s pathetic. I guess it should be mentioned that Joshua beat Whyte before he was ranked(and I didn´t count it) and Fury fought Wallin before he was ranked(did not count it either).

Deontay Wilder has managed to beat only 2 guys who were ranked by Ring.:facepalm: To his credit, he did fight Fury 3 times.
10 title defenses, 9 years ranked by Ring and he has only managed to beat 2 guys who were ranked. Went 3-3-1 vs ranked opponents. Modern boxing is ****.

Chisora should have been ranked by ring magazine at least the second time Fury beat him, then Klitschko was champion, Whyte was ranked and Wilder was ranked so thats at least 4. Suppose he beat Wilder twice but yes very weak.

Actually my point on Brewer along with Reid and Mitchell was purely that they should have have wins over Ottke and then when they faced Joe the fights would have been unifications. It's fine margins, but those three fights in terms of their timing and the resumes at the time were underrated due to the German robberies.

Whilst I still think it's not a great look for either Calzaghe or Ottke that they botha had so many defences in the same division, I can understand why the fight never happened - Ottke never left Germany, and Warren wouldn't have Joe fight him in Germany either - impasse. But they should have fought, and it seriously devalues both their resumes that they didn't - but arguably Joshua has the same not having fought either Wilder or Fury (though I'd argue Usyk x2 evens that out a lot - but of course, he lost those)

Yeah I agree Calzaghe/Reid could've gone either way Ottke/Reid on the other hand was a total farce.

People don't often mention it but Reid was hard done by in Lacy fight aswell, Reid got hit clearly on the break with a sucker punch pretty much. And bizarrely the referee called it a knockdown when Lacy should've had a point deducted. So Reid had to get up within 10 seconds after being fouled, and after that incident Reid didn't seem to recover.
