how much credit can you give a person for someone fighting other dudes of the same size?!?!? Granted Hearns is naturally bigger. Leonard got some great name but is not a Hell of a accomplish to fight his rivals. It is not like he moved up in weight and beat Duran or Hearns. They were there. Hagler on the other hand is a great win for he came out of retirement and fought a bigger dude.

I have Leonard tied with Whitaker for #2 on my all time list and Robinson at #3. It's because I fell that Leonard and Whitaker have better resumes than Robinson.
It comes down to who has the least big fight losses when they were cappable of beating their oppoent. Don't Include blantant robberies.
Leonard lost to Duran in a fight he could have won. He had the talent to beat Duran. The fight was very close and he clearly won the rematch.
Robinson on the other hand Lost to Maxim in 1952. You can say he was giving up 16 Lbs, but that was his choice to do so. Just like it is both Mayweather's and Pacquiao's choice to come in light for some of their fights. You can say the heat got to him. They did have to replace the reffree. However, conditioning and stanima are a part of the sport as much as punching and avoiding punches. These two results alone are not enough to call a winner.
In 1957 Robinson lost to Fullmer and Basilio. Two men he was capple of beating. How can I say that? He won the rematches with both of them. None of these losses to Maxim, Fullmer or Basilio were robberies. If they had been there would be a post about it at least once a month in the classic. About as often as a Ali/Tyson fanasty match up comes up. You can argue that Robinson wasn't at his personal best and there fore should be given some slack. That's the same thing as saying that Mayweather is not at his personal best and should be given some slack. Both of these statments are complete Bull Sh*t. Is there a better light middleweight or welterweight than Mayweather right now? Was there a better Middle weight than Robinson in the las thalf of the 1950's. The answer to both is no.
I'm not shitting on Robinson. He just has more losses to boxers he should have beaten than Leonard dose.

Far enough, but he fought a lot more. That was a different time and those fought several times a year to make a living so quite often they fought not at their best shape because they had to.

I think SRL has a edge in quality (I mean Tommy x2, MMH and Duran x2 all top 15-20 atg plus Benitez) But SRR has the edge in quantity. It is hard for a modern fighter to beat a former ATG's resume but SRL is he closest thing possible

Robinson, Greb, Armstrong, Charles all have as good or better resumes, by any way of looking at it, I'd say. All deeper, that's for certain.

    Both are not top 10!

SRR has the better resume by miles!!! The only Leonard that cracks a top 10 list should be Benny.

Robinson is top t 10 all time great, Leonard is not. Look at how many rematches Robisnon would fight with guys. 5 bouts with Lamotta, 2 with Basillio, 2 with Turpin. All rematches came quick, unlike way Leonard made Hearns wait 10 years for another fight. No Hagler rematch either.

People are forgetting that SRR fought like once every 3 weeks not once every 4 months.

I think SRL is great and rank him No. 2 all time in head to head Welterweight matchups. Robinson had an absurd record at Welterweight and during that time beat middleweights regularly, while weighing no more than 147. The only question for Robinson is where he ranks as a middleweight, where I think Hagler and Monzon are slightly above him.

At welterweight, the top three head to head (not length or quality of reign) are Robinson, Leonard and Hearns, in that order. Any of those three would be strongly favored against any other welterweight in history.
