Quartey was undefeated when Oscar beat him. What the hell does Quartey losing to Wright and Forrest 7 1/2 years later... after a 5 year retirement have to do with Oscar's fight with him?

I also love how once again you mention inactivity when discussing Oscar's opponents... yet, you never want to mention Oscar's own inactivity when fighting Mayweather himself. Let alone his age... and the fact that he was much more inactive and past it than Chavez and Whitaker. Chavez and Whitaker were both active champions still reigning over their respective divisions. Neither were shot.

Yet, Castillo is labeled as this huge win for Mayweather... regardless of the fact that he was knocked out 4 times by absolute nobodies before he ever even fought Floyd. Given the fact that Floyd was clealry beat by Castillo anyways... you guys REALLY need to stop bringing that fight up. Also, you guys try to make Castillo out to be some world beater... which he clearly wasn't. I loved the guy, but his reign as champ wasn't much to write home about. He had great fights with Corrales... who was also a very limited fighter.

So holding a strap means you arent faded or shot? Please do tell.

Maybe. As I said, it might have been a one off. He clearly wasnt on top of his game against Hurtado or River. And he clearly never caim close to replicating that performance in the ring again.

And who did Chavez fight during those 3 years?

The first fight was stopped by a cut. Kosta took a shorter time to beat Chavez then Oscar did their second fight. What a none argument anyway. Both fights Chavez was severly outclassed and done as a fighter.

Please name a top ranked fighter Chavez was able to beat from his 1st loss to Oscar to the Tszyu fight?

    Bull****.

So is Floyd. Yet in Floyds inactivity he comes back periodically to reestablish his dominance. And unlike Oscar at 35 Floyd is still seen as the 1st or 2nd best fighter in the world.

As Floyd Mayweather said "No little man is going to retire me"[/quote]

But Floyd hasn't beat Ortiz yet. You're speaking as if the fight happened already. None of us know for sure where Floyd could be physically or mentally. For all you know this could be a Leonard Norris part 2

When Castillo and Corrales lost to Mayweather. They went on to have long championship laden carriers multiple divisions.

    What did Ike Quartey do?

Better win. Oscar's KO domination of Mayorga. Or Chavez last 4 fights before he fought Oscar?

Early in his career. The vast majority of Hispanic fighters learn on the job. Marquez, Sergio Martinez, Antonio Margarito, all have early KO losses on their records.

From 2000-2005 Jose Luis Castillo had 16 fights

He went 13-1-2 in those fights

    He beat

    Stevie Johnston
    Cesar Bazan
    Juan Lascano
    Joel Casamayor
    Julio Diaz
    Diego Corrales

Now compare that to the run Julio Cesar Chavez after he lost to Frankie Randall?

Best lightweight of his era. Would dominate this era.

Mayweather has the superior championship record and has shown a class of excellence for a longer period than Oscar.

History will rate Mayweather higher, he's already surpassed Oscar. Regardless of what people here say or think.

Mayweather has accomplished much more and defeated the better opposition when considering all of them, as opposed to a few of them here and there. There is really no argument you can make for Oscar when discussing them win by win, as evident by the other thread currently on the front page which shows how hypocritical people become when they do that for these two particular fighters; as circumstances such as age and weight show up in both of their resumes in comparable fashions.

The original post in this thread is utter garbage too. Horrible lists.

De La Hoya fought way better comp, it's not even close. Show me a Trinidad type fighter that Floyd beat, or a prime SSM type fighter. They don't exist on his resume. That said, Oscar has more losses and while Floyd is undefeated, it's highly unlikely that this would be the case if he fought all of Oscars comp when Oscar did. In Terms of ATG ranking though I'd give the nod to Floyd if he retires undefeated and fights the best fighters at their best weight.

So Floyd wouldn't be able to make it through Oscar's resume without amassing less than six losses?

Only Hopkins and Mosley truly beat De La Hoya in his prime. Probably not 6 but he wouldn't come out record intact against Hopkins.

    Have to disagree.

The Trinidad win is better than any win Floyd has. The Vargas win is as good or better than the Cotto win. The Whitaker win is better than the win over DLH himself, or at least on par. Most have him beating at Mosley at 154, who was fresher than the version Floyd had fought. IMO he beat Sturm and Quartey in close decisions, and those are comparable to wins over Hatton and Jesus Chavez. The Corrales and Castillo wins are about level with the Vargas win, maybe a bit better.

Floyd has more depth, but the disparity in depth isn't huge, and Oscar has a pair of wins that none of Floyd's compare to.

Oscar De LA Hoya and its not close..

ODLH has a better resume, and he actually took challenges and lost but because of that he ranks amond the elites, May couldn't even fight a little midget @ 147 because he was to chicken **** to try even if the whole world had him as the favorite..

    ODLH..........................> scareweather

    P4P ODLH

    ATG ODLH

    and its not close

Nice job dealing with defending the gift Oscar got from Sturm and the decision from Quartey. You have Mosley winning the second fight now Combine this with Bazooka who is of the view that Oscar beat Mayweather and you have 42-3 as Oscar's new record.

How to deal with those last 3 losses?
