Floyd has tested himself against the best. he cant fight everybody bro. Just because Floyd doesnt have a close fight doesnt mean he didnt fight anybody. Castillo was one of the best lightweights the last 15 years bro, and he took that fight as his first fight at that weight. Would've liked to see him beat the crap out of Cotto...Yeah but it didnt happen. to say Margarito or Cotto or Williams are the toughest fighters of this era his a LONG stretch bro. Once Pacquiao takes the test and Mayweather beats him nothing else matters, just hopefully it goes down spring next year

Your argument would work if DLH's resume was light years ahead of Mayweather like your other examples but unfortunately that isn't the case. Nobody is comparing Duran and Ottke because it's not a relevant comparison. Mayweather and DLH is relevant despite DLH clearly having the better names on his card. Mayweather being undefeated after 20 or so championship fights against world class competition in 5 weight classes is a feat that Ottke never accomplished. Mayweather also went up to DLH's weight class and beat him which is another reason why these two are forever linked.

With that said, I don't expect a cookie cutter ******* like yourself to understand. You look at names only on boxrec and parade around like you know what you're talking about. Most fans consider all of the circumstances surrounding a fight and a performance before judging it and comparing it to others and not "Cotto, Margo wins are better than anything Floyd has done" which is typical from people like you.

Class is in and you are schooled

I would say both and that means its still mayweather for me. Yes I give props to DH fighting all those fghters he fought but the biggest ones he lost. so I give Mayweather the upperhand. Corrales,Castillo,Mosley,DLH,Hatton he all won

You're dead wrong on that one. Williams called out both Mayweather and Cotto before and after the Margarito fight on live TV within an hour period:!::!::!: He also called out Mayweather and Pacquiao after that.

I dont know how many times I have to say it. Resume is who you BEAT. Not who you lose to. Would you put a job done on your resume that you got fired from? :patsch

Did Oscar fight better competition? Yes. Did he beat better competition? No.

Clearly Mayweather has the better resume.

DLH beat Whitaker, P4P #1, numero uno, the man to beat that happened to be around his weight. Floyd hasn't fought the #1 guy or if he's number 1, number 2 guy yet

This is the correct RESUME for both fighters.

    Mayweather:

    Mosley
    Marquez
    Hatton
    DLH
    Judah
    Baldomir
    Corley
    Castillo
    Jesus Chavez
    Corales
    Manfredy
    G. Hernandez
    Gatti

    De La Hoya:

    Mayorga
    Forbes
    Sturm
    Vargas
    Castillejo
    Leija
    Oba Carr
    Quartey
    Gatti
    Whitaker
    Camacho
    Julio C Chavez

Its close. But its clearly a close but clear win for Mayweather.

None of the guys that Mayweather beat was P4P 1 or 2. The closest was Marquez at P4P 3 and he wasn't really in Floyd's weightclass. DLH has Whitaker who was the man to beat in Whitakers own weightclass, what Pacquiao is to Floyd and he has a win over him.

I am surprised it is this close. Oscar's resume is much better, not his wins but his resume and the names on it. Whitaker,Chavez,Tito,Hopkins etc.

I sincerely doubt Whitaker was Pound 4 Pound number 1 at this point. He was coked out and struggling with medoicre competition like Hurtado and Rivera.

Whitaker was nowhere near his prime.

By these standards, it's still clearly DLH.
Mayweather's best wins were over 10 years ago. Castillo and Corrales. He hasn't fought anyone at that level and in their prime since.

DLH beat guys like that (Genaro Hernandez, Rafael Rueles, John John Molina, Jesse James Leija, Miguel Angel Gonzalez) on his way up to fighting the elite like Pernell Whitaker, Ike Quartey, Felix Trinidad and Shane Mosley)

Mayweather fought guys like that then hand picked people he knew weren't that good or way past their primes, and never stepped up to fight the elite.

He was P4P #1 at the time. No one had beat him for it and he was the recognized champion at welter. And he was the same age Floyd is now and still was as defesive as he always was.
