This post won't be bettered in this thread.^

Ray has the best resume of any fighter in the modern game and until you get four genuine ATG's with similar ability to the 4 kings around the same weight division(s) it will stay that way.

And whilst Chavez is a great fighter his link to King and the fixed fight/tomato can aliases means he shouldn't be on the list. Most of my favourite fighters are Mexican but I've never taken to Chavez and I'm reading a book right now which highlights the nonsense that King pulled with Chavez.Second book in a couple months I've seen this.

You're right about the level Chavez fought at.He went up against everyone and beat most but that's why it's so disappointing to read he was involved in all this ****.I'm not saying for a minute it was mostly his doing but he let King involve him in some scandalous ****,and it taints what would have been a fabulous legacy.
I know that this can lead to accusations of anti-Mexican feeling but I should point out that Barrera is my alltime #2 and JMM is my favourite active fighter so I'm not a Rican trying to pull some **** here.:good

How on earth can you say Morales has a better resume than Mayweather ? and have Pacquaio ahead of Chavez and Mayweather ?

I read "Years of the Locust" a few months back and that mentioned it briefly but now I'm onto "Boxing Confidential" by Jim Brady which covers it in a bit more detail. It's clearly mostly down to King and a few others but I just think it's a shame that such a talented ATG was involved in fighting bums to rip off naive promoters at such an advanced stage of his career.
I should also make it clear that although I believe the book,I'm perfectly open to anyone who can correct me and prove it to be untrue.I don't claim to have extensive knowledge on the subject.
And I only mentioned the ethnicity because I know saying anything about JCC can lead to that stuff. No offence meant mate.

I like Leonard and I won't argue against the poll, however I think Chavez has a more impressive resume.

Chavez was twenty five years a pro and fought and beat more world champions than any other fighter in history. He had around twenty eight world title fights back to back and used to fight four, five, six times a year. He went undefeated in his first eighty or so fights and barely took a backward step regardless of who he was fighting.

Leonard's career, great though it was, covered just forty fights only twelve of which were for world titles. What's more he took Lalonde's light heavy weight belt without ever fighting at light heavy.

You gotta roll with Sugar Ray here. Hagler, Duran twice, and Hearns is enough right there.
