Better Resume: OSCAR DE LA HOYA or ROY JONES Jr?

I say Roy because he has beaten 85% of the big names on his resume Oscar has beaten about 60% of them.

Oscar has beaten -

but he lost to -

Mosley
Trinidad
Hopkins
Mayweather

Jones has beaten -

Hopkins
Toney
Woods
Gonzalez
Hill
Ruiz
Tarver

Roy has lost to -

Johnson
Tarver
Calzaghe

- You gotta take into account that Jones has never been beaten in his prime but Oscar was. All of Jones' losses are after he bulked up to HW and after he turned 34 years old. Oscar started losing long before Roy and has lost more fights. I give Roy the edge for this reason and that is why Guys like Roy, Trinidad, Mayweather, Hopkins, ext. are just slightly better then Oscar when you look at their resumes. When and how they lost fights is very important.

Also you have to consider that Roy Jones NEVER beat a unified, linear, or undisputed Champion in his whole career. Oscar did.

 

It comes down to results.
RJJ probably has the better results on his fights, But you can't deny that Oscar has fought the who's who of boxing. If your looking at wins then maybe RJJ, But Oscar would be way ahead in terms of being a warrior by fighting almost all the big names that he can face. Oscar might have fought Ali or SRR if they're still fighting today.

 

Roy Jones JR. hands down. DLH is considered an 'ATG' because of the fighters he lost to.

 

I disagree. I think it can be better said as "Its not if you lose, its how you lose, and to who."

Anyone with Hoya's competition would have just as much losses. Most fighters avoided fighters that were bad stylistic match ups. Oscar put those fights on the big stage cuz he believed he could do it. He sometimes couldn't. 6 times. But don't you wish other more protected fighters put it on the line like that? There wouldn't be so many what if fantasy question match ups on ESB, that's for sure.

 

I don't. RJJ had the oppurtunity to move up or down from Lt. HW to make some good fights happen during his prime, but he didn't. He chose the easy path.
