In other words, first you learn is how to land without breaking your arms or getting a concussion. Welcome to the wonderful world of grappling!

I will say Judo because there are locks and pressure points as well as throws involved. Also If you throw someone they are more likely to be shocked and back off. If you hit or kick them it will just **** them off.

Have fun with the air falls :)

Ukemi is one thing, but those falls will have you sore, even with proper form until you get used to it.

Aikido, but this is ****ing flawless..

The footwork of Judo (pure judo 100%, not like a mma judo/sambo mma fight stance) is really very awkard, it is like a circular, flowing motion. I was having trouble getting it down. He says it takes some people time. People who can dance tend to pick up the footwork quicker.

On the mat, I was already mounting and pinning down orange belts. I like the ground work much better, when we started out grappling on the ground.

Speaking of Judo. I don't think I've seen a single footsweep in a MMA fight yet. It's take lot's of training and good intuition to time it right but I've always thought it would be a great technique to counter a shooting move and followed with ground 'n pound.

More based on standing, small joint manipulations right? Yeah, that is some nasty stuff until you run into someone who is willing to break their own fingers in order to get out of a hold. Pretty sure I've seen that before and I was impressed.

Trouble with Judo, and the more traditional japanese jiu jitsu's is they are so rooted in tradition that it is almost impossible to find someone willing to teach it non gee, or based on a real self defense or techniques that translate well into MMA. It would be worth paying the money to found a place that specializes in non gee Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Judo.

Hehe, my old sensei would make us do these drills.. It was a basic square dance footwork drill but we would have to increase the speed. Then do it opposite direction. It was great for balance and footwork coordination.

From a standing position.. left foward, then right.. Right foot right, left foot right.right foot back, left foot back.. Left foot left, right foot left.. Then start all over and gradually increase the speed of your steps.. It sounds silly, but it increases your foot coordination rediculously fast.. Then you do the whole thing in reverse. Funny ****, but it works.

BJJ is more fight sport than pure self defence sport. If assaulter is more than one - you're in trouble if you take one down.

Example, Hokutoryu ju-jutsu developer was ex-boxer and black belt karateka and commonly known to be more interested - more brutally fighting style, than karate or boxing alone can be. That style is picked techiques, which really work in true situation.

Can't disagree. It's not a martial art that would let you handle multiple opponents at once.
