You point to these losses of Eubanks yet do you rate the win over Johnson? Remember after Hopkins beat Johnson, Johnson went 7-9-2 including the Hopkins loss and after suffering more losses then gets beaten by Froch at a weight where he was a journeyman
Kessler: Hand Problems http://www.**************/news.php?news_id=677&y=2009&m=11 Hopkins: Not well http://www.theboxingbulletin.com/2009/01/bernard-hopkins-eight-is-enough-part-2.html Lacy: Not 100%. Maybe sick? http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Gabriel/Montoya_092006.htm
When a doctor says you can longer fight because of an injury you recieved in the fight then it is ruled a tko i.e stopped
I've said time and time again that neither of those wins mean anything yet you insist on asking the same question
They all had off nights against Calzaghe Kessler said on camera, and I still have a copy of it, straight after the fight that the hand wasnt a problem.
srr:ww-lhw Moore:mw-hw Holyfield:cw-hw Qawi:lhw-cw Hearns:ww-lhw Jones:jmw-hw Toney:mw-cw Hopkins:mw-lhw the list goes on Jermain Taylor was good enough at smw to beat Jeff Lacy, Calzaghe's second best win at smw, but let me guess Lacy was prime when Calzaghe beat him but completely shot afterwards
I understand that. But I got the impression you were insinuating a Eubank had the ref intervene, which was not the case
So you think beating 40 something year old Johnson with double figure losses and a SMW journeyman who had lost to far lesser fighters than Eubank, was the same as 32 year old Eubank who went on to push a CW world champ and hadnt had one clear win recorded against him, is the same level. If you really think that, it will show an agenda
Well we then have 2 scenarios: 1: Kessler was injured going into the fight, which is why his workrate was inconsistent or 2: Kessler is a mentally weak fighter who 'mentally switched off' in his first real test
Some fighters can perform at other weights and Hopkins is proof of that, but there are several others that cant, and you note Taylor beating Lacy but forget Lacy was seriously ruined and had damaged his shoulder and not able to throw his punches like before. Still if you dont note that, it once again shows an agenda
So which one was it when he fought Ward. Impaired vision and a bit rusty after not having 3 completed rounds in a year and not beating a world rated opponent for a few years?
We are going in circles Thompson was not a recognised champion. The wbo belt back then was semi worthless. No decent cw fighter goes life and death with a fighter who was a smw in his previous fight. Thompson never beat anyone worth mentioning and lost to mediocre competition
It's easy just to say Froch, but you have to consider he did benifit from the Super six and all the attention it drew on the division. Some of the guy's Froch beat would otherwise not have been as hyped and some would be written off as Lacy-type overrated hype-jobs (Bute, Abraham). A guy like Dirrell wouldn't have been as known and Froch would've received more criticism than praise for struggling to beat him. It would've been on the level of the Bika fight for Joe. Also Jermain Taylor's record at SMW is very very poor, even though he gave a good account for himself vs Froch. I would still go with Calzaghe, due to the nature of his wins being overrall better with it being close. Kessler (number one in the division, some adversity early to pull out clear win) Lacy (number one in the division, masterclass domination) Eubank Robin Reid Mitchell/Bika Over Bute (number 2/3, crushing domination) Glen Johnson Pascal Dirrell Taylor/Abraham
