How do you work that out?
    On that list

    - Jean Pascal did nothing at SMW
    - Glen Johnson did nothing at SMW, was about 0-5 in last 5 world title fights and lost more at SMW than won
    - Andre Dirrell did nothing at SMW, biggest win was Oganov
    - Jermain Taylor did nothing at SMW, was 1-2 in last 3 fights and after another KO loss after Froch is back at MW
    - Arthur Abraham did nothing at SMW, coming in off a loss and not able to compete at SMW

    Bute undefeated SMW champ

    - Mikkel Kessler undefeated SMW unified champ with better SMW resume than all on list above
    - Jeff Lacy undefeated SMW champ with better SMW resume than all on list above
    - Chris Eubank world class been a world champ at SMW with better SMW resume than all on list above
    - Robin Reid world class been a world champ at SMW with better SMW resume than all on list above
    - Byron Mitchell world class been a world champ at SMW with better SMW resume than all on list above

Woodhall world class been a world champ at SMW with better SMW resume than all on list above

Then you can add Brewer and Veit has a resume of similar level to Bute. Plus all of Calzaghes other top 10 wins.

Froch shits on Calzaghe's resume and he still has a lot of fights to bring.

Glad Froch is getting the respect he deserves. A true champ who takes on all. Easily Froch here. having a 0 means nothing if you dont take risks.

Do you mean like not leaving Oakland and staying in your home country while others in a competition have to travel?

    Explain
Give it a go Scar and try and explain, rather than just make comments that you cannot back up

This is true. You figure he has a few more years left. I would like him to avenge the Kessler loss. I dont see him beating ward but going at it one more time wont hurt his legacy.

lol Veit was such a **** champion. the 'intercontinental champ' who couldnt make more than five defences of that fringe title, despite fighting in native germany almost all that time. Intercontinental titles is for someone who cant even break into the top contenders list. i know someone who lives down my road who climbed higher than that in boxing!

if anyone thinks Veits appalling run as 'intercontinental champ' is better than Bute being IBF champ for so many defences, I just fear for that persons children, being raised in astate of delusion....i really do.

Credit to Veit for eventually landing a 'minor' world title by 'interim'without a fight but he proved his shite ability by losing it straightaway.

The prince of shitdom, hes like the exact opposite of the long run Calzaghe had. Yeah if someone writes 'Veit was a great champion', then basically they should be sent back to do their english gcse. They clearly mislearned what 'great' means.

    Its who you defend against.
Just having a belt doesnt mean that you are the best or have a better resume than someone who doesnt dummy.
You say so many defences for Bute in that he had I think 9 defences, yet when J Taylor won the MW title he defended against Hopkins and then against Wright. Far less defences but with a better resume. Understand that? When Barrera relinquished his world title, did that mean he had a lesser resume than some of the champions at the time? Of course not.
Its the fighter that makes the belt, not the belt making the fighter and many on here didnt rate Butes title run. I didnt think it was bad to be fair

Oh dear God. Oh Lord above. He is STILL trying to prove that Veit was a GREAT CHAMPION despite being told otherwise.

Someone give me a gun... I dont think I can bear it any longer if he replies ' I SCHOOLED YOU THERE, YOU HATER'. oh my god, hes going to do and all...... i think I just wet my kegs.....lord have mercy on me!

Joe was the better fighter but Froch has the better resume , it goes like that sometimes.

Joe was fighting in an era where Sven Ottke was fighting only in Germany and his biggests tests were at middle or light heavy.

It was arguably a tougher era then and Calzaghe fought in a tougher recent era. this is an old post before Bute lost to Froch but you get the idea

On a further note, look at the Rings annual ratings for 1999

    1. Sven Ottke
    2. Joe Calzaghe
    3. Byron Mitchell
    4. Markus Beyer
    5. Charles Brewer
    6. Thomas Tate
    7. Frankie Liles
    8. Richie Woodhall
    9. Robin Reid
    10. Glenn Catley
Except for Tate, who pulled out against Calzaghe, all of the other fighters in the ratings had been or were SMW champs and at least 7 that I see on there, off the top of my head had greater resumes than Bute in terms of quality
This also shows how Calzaghe wasnt ducking anybody also when you consider that #1 Ottke wouldnt fight him, #3 Mitchell he beat, he beat Kessler who beat #4, #5 Brewer he beat, #6 Tate pulled out against Calzaghe and retired, #7 got beat by #3 who Calzaghe beat, he beat #8 Woodhall who beat #10, beat #9 Reid and #10 Catley was KOd by Calzaghe not too many years before as an amateur
