You aren’t taking into account size. Mayweather likely gave up 10+ pounds to Hatton and I do not agree that it was an easy style match-up. Oscar was like 33 or 34 and also had a large size advantage. Shane was older, but was also the champ at 147 and top 3 pfp.
Nah, I disagree. And I dont even think it matters much what top 5 you use for Mayweather. Imo, any arrangement of canelo, pac, castillo, corrales, hoya, cotto, hatton, is better as a collection, than Wards top 5. .... I think if you did a top 3, it becomes a lot closer. But while Barrera is a solid solid fighter, hes a weak link on the list, imo... and Abraham sinks the whole thing, when being matched against a list like Floyds. Top 3 of Kova 2, Froch and Kessler would be a much better comparison.
In a P4P sense, yeah. But relative to the division they fought, Froch > JMM. Not to mention, floyd ignoring the agreed upon weight doesn't help him either.
No. Pac (by far) is a better win than anything on Ward's resume even at this stage. Corrales is a better win than anything Ward has. Genaro is a better win than anything Ward has. Hatton (who had held all 3 belts at JWW, and a belt at WW prior to fighting Floyd and never lost any in the ring) is a better win than anything Ward has. Angel Manfredy (who you didn't even name) is a better win than anything Ward has except Kovalev and Froch. I'm a Ward fan, but it appears as if this thread was created to denigrate Floyd.
Shocked that people would even think there is some kind of debate about this. Imo Floyd has several greater wins than wards best wins. Froch and Kessler were past prime imo but I haven't seen that mentioned in the thread start. Floyd and imo not even debatable. Very clear Funny thing that I also haven't seen mentioned is that when Floyd fought Oscar it was in a higher weight class with Oscar coming off a great performance. When Froch fought ward he was coming off a mdec over a faded boiled down g Johnson
In my opinion Ward 1- Kovalev 1&2 2-Kessler 3-Froch 4-Dawson 5-Abraham Floyd 1-Corrales 2-Maidana 1 3-Pacquiao 4-Hatton 5-Castillo 2
