Ward's win was better, but Pac was an enormous underdog, while almost everyone thought Ward would win.

I gotta go with Pacquiao, simply because anyone with a sense of boxing IQ gave him absolutely no chance at the time.
Ward had a great win but many(including myself) were predicting a win for him.

i give Pac all the credit in the world for whipping DLH's cherrypicking ass. Thought he could pick on a smaller guy for an easy payday and got that ass tapped.

Ward's win gets more credit but the De La Hoya win made Pac a super duper star.

Ward vs Dawson = A very good fight and win for Ward.

PAC vs Hoya = A classic and history in the making win for PAC.

Ward was the favorite to win vs Dawson. PAC had no chance at all, was set to get destroyed and murdered.

The fight was almost equal in its own right.

Dawson moved down and fought Ward in his own (Ward) division. DLH moved down 1 division, Pacquiao moved up 2 divisions to fight at the most comfortable weight wherein they could fight.

Dawson got weight drained and lost. DLH was already around 147 weeks before the fight, and his body (designed for fighting) never recuperated from the weight loss and lost.

Ward was the favored to win this fight, and TKOd Chad. Pacquiao was a large underdog and was ridiculed he would be taken out in thess than 3 rounds, but won through TKO. Heck, even one ESB mod said "DLH would murder Pac by the jab alone".

Dawson was a lineal champ and at his near-peak of his fighting career. DLH was a part-time fighter-promoter. Ward was a champ at 168 and proved his dominance in 168. Pacquiao was a champ in 135 but some analysts says Pac has done **** at 135.

In the end, Pac's win was greater than Ward's due to the fact that Pac was a great underdog who just TKOd a bullying DLH. Either way, no one in the boxing world would know that DLH would be a walking zombie in the fight night until when the fight actually went through and DLH just could do **** in the ring (or Pac is just too fast for him). I could credit Ward more if he moved up and challenged Chad, he might be on my best P4P and could have elevated his ATG rankings if that could have happened

    It's Chad mother****in Dawson we're talking about.

Pac's win catapulted him to superstar status.

Ward will be lucky to get the pearl at the palms filled for his next fight.

:lol::lol: yes there is Oscar, yes there is.

Look at Oscar's face weeks before the fight (24/7). He was already below 154 and I think he was interviewed back then and he says he was near below 154 that he could be at 147 at fight night.

what pac did at that time was equivalent to floyd moving up to 168 from 154 to fight dawson. pac moved up 2 divisions to fight delahoya. if floyd managed to pull that feat instead of ward, *****s would have proclaimef floyd the goat.

Can we just be reasonable and give both men their due?

I don't care for Manny much post-SFW but he should be given credit for his win over DLH and is one of the best FW's of recent times. Ward is the best SMW now and dominated the #2 guy in his division before facing Dawson and lets not forget Dawson called him out at 168. Shame that the best guys from other divisions can't fight each other without grown men as fans bitchin.

Seriously? Comparing Dawson to Oscar. Even a shot Oscar is better then Dawson. Not too mention Pac was a huge underdog and jumping up several weight divisions.
