You can say that if you want,but you do admit that Floyd fought the better version of Cotto right? He had a trainer,confidence and full weight,while "even if not drained" Manny wanted a weaker Cotto with NO camp and lost his confidence..

Cotto came off of a brutal TKO at the hands of Margarito a year prior,while Floyd fought him after he TKO Margarito..

If Manny fought Cotto at 154 and TKO'd him then that win would be better than Ward IMO.. I would be very impressed if Manny pulled that off and would give him all the credit in the world "even if Cotto lost to Floyd prior" that is a huge win..

 

I'll take Ward's win Saturday night. You could tell at the weigh in for Pac vs. ODLH that fight was over. Oscar was just too old to come down that far.

Dawson might not have given his best performance on Saturday, but Oscar gave probably his worst against Pac.

 

So how come DLH was still the favorite on fight night, Dawson wide underdog (esp after the sparring rumors broke)?

When did Dawson put in a worse performance? Against Pascal he took some hard punches ok, didn't quit either, was going all out late in fact.

 

pac fought a priime, younger and faster cotto with lesser mileage and damage. floyd fought a cotto that has seen enough mileage and was stopped by pacquiao almost 3 years earlier. there's a reason why floyd ducked cotto back in 2008.

Yes, there were bigger stars than Manny, and Oscar was one of them. You could tell at the weigh in that he was done.

why would these bookies play with their money if they thought that oscar has no chance? this is revisionist history. people still thought oscar was gonna give pac a beating even after the weigh-in. it's only after a couple of few rounds of the fight that people thought that pac has a real chance of the upset.

Yes, nobody denies DLH was drained to a higher degree than Dawson. Conversely, Pac was taking a much bigger risk in accepting that fight, just on coach Roach opinion he arrived at during DLH Mayweather no less. All it takes for Roach to be wrong this time, and Pac's head is off.
