    It depends what you're trying to ask...

    Would even that declined version of Wlad have beaten that Ortiz 10 times out of 10? Yes.
    Would that Wlad have beaten prime Ortiz 10/10? Still yes.

    There's no debate at all that that Wlad was the better fighter of the two losers, and by a very long way... In that sense, beating the very clearly superior fighter is obviously the better win.


    What you appear to be trying to ask, though, is not quite that... Even though it comes across that way, IMHO.
    If the question is whether the difference in levels between AJ and Wilder means that Ortiz was closer to the absolute best that Wilder could've beaten than that Wlad was to the absolute best AJ could've scraped by?
    Then maybe - but its in the nature of how Wilder is, being limited in skill and relying on KO's to bail him out of fights he can't possibly win on the cards (and I'm not denigrating that) means that sometimes he's going to look in very deep waters before getting the job done.
