    Vote and discuss !

For me Dawson over Tarver. Tarver was far more live than RJJ. Tarver just won the IBF crown from the game european fighter Clinton Woods. Tarver knocked out Roy Jones. Tarver was coming forward almost all 12 rounds.

Dawson and RJJ are both over the hill 40 year olds.

It's hard to come to a conclusion simply because Joe Calzaghe has an ability to make his oppostion look much worse than they really are that Dawson has yet to demonstrate.

Well, obviously. Why else do you think the OP didn't include that as an option?

Tarver was coming of a impressive and dominating win over another world champion and won a title, prior losing to Dawson. While RJJ was coming of a lackluster win over an overblown Welterweight prior losing to Calzaghe. Dawsons win is far more impressive IMO, i like Calzaghe but i find it hard to give him ANY credit for beating RJJ, and im one of the very few people who gave him credit for beating Hopkins when people kept claiming he was old when he beat him.

If Tarver were a horse, he would have gone straight from the ring vs Dawson to the glue factory.

Roy is on the downside, but at least he has some speed and the power to drop Joe. Tarver had nothing, zip. His performance against Dawson made what he did in the Hopkins fight look like Vitali against Sam Peter (with Tarver as Vitali).

    Tarver beating Woods was 'impressive'?

I don't think I've ever seen a title fight where both participants impressed me less.

however you rate roy, the manner in which Calzaghe won the fight and the way he fought was very impressive. the bigger the occasion, the bigger the performance for big joe

Yes it was, Tarver was the underdog against a world champion in the division and came out with the win.

Oh I thought you meant in terms of performance. Which would have been a lot more relevant.

It was a dominating performance and he looked much better and less shot than RJJ when he fought Trinidad. Relevent enough for ya?
