Addie is a mate, he is a great poster too, the guy makes me laugh so much!

He will type his fingers sore for hours writing about how despicable it is that the world and his wife makes allowances for Duran in the second Leonard fight, lamenting the collective consciousness of ESB for this travesty of justice, decrying this global conspiracy and enormous evil excuse-making machine that grinds on and on relentlessly crushing the soul of intelligent and sincere neutrals like himself............

    And then this. Magic! :good

    I understood the point immediately.

You were criticizing me for making excuses for Bowe whereas I'm always adamant that a fighter like Duran gets a free pass in his biggest fights.

We should deal with facts though. When Bowe came in to the ring against Holyfield in the second fight he was visibly overweight. Foreman even made references to him being embarassed to the point of lifting his trunks up to his belly "to hide the flab". It was documented, even before it was apparent Holyfield was winning, that the Bowe of the first fight was in much better shape. These are facts. He had entered training camp at a shocking 286 lbs, and weighed in at 246 lbs, eleven pounds heavier than in the first fight with Holyfield.

What about Duran in his second fight with Leonard suggested to us all that he was not in shape and that he had not trained? He looked great in the ring, and was actually competitive up until he gave up.

The same thing could easily be said about Holmes going into the first Spinks fight though. In the first fight Larry clearly went in there over confident and didn't train as hard as he should have. In the rematch Larry went into the fight in the type of shape he should have been in for the first fight, and won in most people's eyes.

Absolutely. But Holyfield was physically stronger than Spinks and had a lot more experience at Heavyweight. Not to mention Holmes was a better Heavy on that night then the Bowe of Holyfield 2, if you ask me.

You need to grow a sense of humour chum, when you are caught hook line and sinker you have to just man up and laugh it off!

I am well aware that you would happily type yourself blue in the face trying to shrug off the astonishing bare-faced double-standards you are guilty of, but I can't really be arsed with it, the evidence is concrete and needs no further explication.

Objectivity is next to Godliness - remember that!

    Couldn't you answer my question?

What about Duran in the ring suggested to you he was having weight issues?

Holmes of the first Spinks fight wasn't as good as Bowe when he fought Holyfield in the rematch. Holmes was using one hand, his left, for almost the entire fight. He lacked ideas, was one paced, and looked like every bit that his 35 years suggested.
