Yes, he appears to be in his late 40s.

Wilder even joked about Ortiz' age in the post-fight presser.

    Accidentally voted for Wilder lol.

Marciano's win was better, Wilder held many considerable physical advantages over Ortiz whereas I think Marciano was physically disadvantaged against Walcott.

Ortiz would beat that version of Walcott.

wtf is this thread? Marciano would KO Ortiz inside 3.

some one as poor as current ortiz would be a gatekeeper in Marcianos reign.

Lol Rocky Marciano fans will say him beating Walcott was better. Even though Walcott was knocked out various times before he even faced Marciano. Wilder is a joke but at least Ortiz was undefeated (Sure Ortiz never faced any real opponents but neither did Marciano besides old past their peak fighters). Marciano fans will also tell you he was the hardest punching heavyweight ever. Which is funny since Marciano was never a heavyweight and he never faced or beat any modern sized heavyweight.

Wilders' win over old grandpa Ortiz was much better than anything Marciano ever did. Which isn't really saying much.

Suzie Q prevails over the Alabama exocet.

I still think a lot of Heavyweights who have not given their all, during what is in reality a relatively short career should have had one of Marcianos quotes as a mantra to motivate them.

"What could be better than walking down any street in any city and knowing you're the heavyweight champion of the world?"

This. I thought since 2015 that Wilder was the best current heavyweight and Ortiz was the 2nd best, but Marciano-Walcott is a tough act to follow, since that was a war. Walcott was extremely experienced and fought everybody. Walcott was coming off two straight wins over Charles going into the Marciano fight.

Walcott beating Hoff, who had height, reach, and a dangerous right hand.

Hoff doing what he did to most of his opponents.

Marciano beat Johnny Shkor, who was 6'4" 220.

Also, Heinz Neuhaus, Nino Valdez, and
Young Jack Johnson, who were all big guys were beaten buy guys that Marciano destroyed later on anyway.

Lol Shkor weighed as low as 190 pounds and put on weight later on. Also Johnny was a bum and past his prime. He was also knocked out in 1 round in his previous fight by 190 pound Jersey Joe Walcott. You should also learn to type better. I don't know you are trying to type about Young Jack Johnson, Nino Valdez, or Heinz Neuhaus since Maricano never fought them.

But Heinz Neuhaus started his career weighing 180 or less. Young Jack Johnson had a career record of 23 wins and 20 losses. Nino Valdez started his career as low as 175. Again neither one fought Marciano and as I said Marciano didn't fight any modern sized heavyweights in his career. He fought light heavyweights, cruiserweights and guys even lower. Some of these put on weight when they were old but that wasn't their prime weights.

I never said Marciano fought Young Jack Johnson, Nino Valdez, or Heinz Neuhaus. Marciano beat the guys that beat them. Also, who cares what weight a fighter starts their career at, since in the heavyweight division the best will win regardless of weight. Joe Louis and Tyson regularly beat guys much heavier just like Wilder does.

Each of these guys lost tons of time . So beacuse Maricano beat guys who beat these guys means what? Mike Tyson was a 220 pound fighter child. Once you are 205 pounds you are a heavyweight. James Toney weights 270 pounds in his last fight. You think that his natural weight? Most heavyweights now are just out of shape. Wilder is natural bigger in terms of height but just chooses to come in lighter because he wants too.

Marciano on the other hand was a 180 pound fighter who fought mostly 180 pound guys or even lesser. If you aren't smart enough to understand that then that is your problem.

Ortiz is probably older, but Jersey Joe Walcott was also probably older than 38.

He’s definitely late 40’s. So kudos to him for still being able to operate at that level. He was VERY close to getting twig legs out of there.
