Better win? Mayweather TKO10 Corrales or Lomachenko TKO10 Linares

I get that, but it doesn't make a fighter better. Linares is better now than he was undefeated.
Corrales went on to loose to Casamayor but he also beat Casamayor in the rematch and followed that up with a win over Freitas and Castillo.

 

Floyd was an underdog vs. Corrales.

 

There were the other wins at other weights also though

I think Linares is better now, I was just trying to give an answer of sorts to how I think many on here see it

Some fighters move on after a loss and others after a loss dont seem the same

Yes he was and he put on one of the best performances I’ve ever witnessed.

 

It is not that Linares fought great, but more like Loma fought bad. Chico couldn’t hit Floyd. Linares hit Loma all nite long.

 

Exactly chico was seen as this undefeated ko monster and he was p4p top 10 ranked and he was prime. Linares has already been beaten and is at the end of his prime or past it he also isnt p4p top 10 ranked either. Pbf put on one of the best exhibitions of boxing of the era against chico. Loma did fine but was far less impressive and he did get dropped. Pbf hands down better performance and better opponent anyone who says otherwise cant be taken seriously for real boxing debate.

Most who had Loma to win, really dogged Linares. So how does a fighter beat a supposed glass chin, easy-to cut,over rated fighter & called it a great win?

My prediction was that -If Linares brought his power up to LW, so, too would Loma. I felt a stoppage by ref, but really wanted Linares to pull the upset.

But hats off to Lomachenko really is in a class by himself.

 

at present they are not in a same league at all - corrales was a HoF monster, Linares was 1 step down, elite/world class.

though linares rating may well bring him up to corrales level, depending on what he does with the rest of his career.

As I've said before weighting up a boxer should be done on their whole career, not 1/2 of it or 3/4.

 

I'm amazed the poll is even close on this. Corrales was a WAY bigger scalp and the fight wasn't even competitive. Loma got put on his ass and Linares was not a P4P top 10 ranker.

The Loma hype train needs to gain some perspective.

 

Pbf was facing a jail sentence before he fought cotto but did anyone use that as an excuse before the fight? The chico jail thing is just an excuse used by pbf haters to try to discredit the win.

 

Floyd had the better performance I agree. But I dont rate Corrales much higher than Linares. They're both very good fighters with flaws. Linares is more skilled than Corrales. But Linares has no durability and his power is only ok. Corrales is way tougher and stronger than Linares. And would probably KO Linares after trailing on the cards wide.

 

It means alot when a top 10 p4p fighter is undefeated and it means alot when you give that same fighter his first loss.
