The better comparison is probably Pac-DLH to Ward-Dawson but I won't bother to make the thread. Both great wins but somehow compromised. Just Ward over Dawson hasn't shaken the world that much is Ward was the heavy favorite
Closer similarity IS PAC vs ODLH.. Ward still needs to fight out of California. WARD VS DIRRELL is already tainted but it's a fight that needs to happen
To me it Ward over Dawson. Although Dawson lost in the past he never took a beating like what cotto received at the hands or margarito. When Ward fought Dawson, Dawson was coming off a convincing win against Hopkins, when pac fought Cotto, Cotto was coming off a controversial win against Clottey.
Ward by far Not even a comparison here is why,Cotto landed 172 punches vs Pac,Dawson landed 20-30 punches the whole fight "if someone can find the compubox thanks" Manny was getting hit with solid shots,Ward had a Mayweather type performance where he was hardly hit,and he TKO him in the 10th round not the 12.. Also Dawson was not the receiver of a brutal KO within a year and few months prior to fighting Ward,and Wards trainer was not bragging how "Dawson is a damaged figher,like Freddie was boasting how Cotto was done" Manny is the superstar,so I can see how he would get more yes votes based on popularity,Ward won the Super 6 and still was not a household name.. If Manny beat the top 6 Welters he would be proclaimed the Goat.
I meant to hit Pac Cotto but I can see the argument for both. Dawson was the man at 175 and never took a serious beating and coming of one of his best wins in his career, Cotto looked shaky at best in his last couple of outings before Pac. However, Dawson was weight drained severally while cotto was not as much. I wish Pac would have just fought him at 147 and then no one would question the win
