I still remember a poll for the Pac/Cotto fight on this board. Over 500 people voted and it was split almost 50/50. Oddsmakers had Pac a -250 fav while Floyd was about a -700 fav. The answer is a no brainer. Pac annihilating Cotto is what drove Floyd to duck Pac from 09-10 imho.

Pac Vs. Cotto. After Pac stopped Cotto, that's when Void, Sr. said that Void, Jr. would never fight Pac and Void is still running!

Pac was a Beast against Cotto, I remember here on ESB when people were saying how Pac cannot take big punches from Cotto.

That's because Cotto was unshot vs Floyd, Cotto was undefeated. PAC fought a shot to **** Cotto that's lost already.

I like Floyd's win better. For me it has nothing to do with the weight, it has to do with the derailment of Cotto's career at the time. The worse part of being the huge error of Cotto choosing a completely inexperienced trainer. Roach saw and jumped all over this, during training Roach said all kinds of things to his trainer, Santiago, during the weigh in Santiago could be seen yelling at Roach "145 *******!! 145 *******!!" Roach was completely in his Santiago's head. Come fight time round one goes beautifully, Cotto bags it unquestionably, he even had Pac completely befuddled unknowing and unwilling to make a move for what seemed like a minute when Pac knew he was about to lose the round .

Cotto tops it off by winning the final exchange and round and sits in his corner and Santiago is thinking it's now his own time to get back at Roach. So what does he do, he tells Cotto he has to put more pressure on Pac...essentially instructing him to brawl Pac, and the rest is history. There is not a trainer in the world who would not have told Cotto to just keep doing what he's doing. Santiago wanted to vicariously beat Freddie's fighter into humiliation through Cotto. Pac didn't even see Cotto, he fought some doppelganger brawler named Cotto.

I consider this fight the one of the biggest fluke's in boxing history, in at least the manner in which Cotto lost. The craziest thing, a guy with the boxing ability of Cotto against a guy known to have problems with boxers...and yet abandons boxing and brawls against one of the best brawlers boxing has ever seen, it was a mind boggling series of events made possible by the post Margarito fiasco. Cotto has had nothing but well seasoned veteran trainers since then. The evidence is even in both their careers, Pac had never beaten a fighter close to the boxing ability in near such a manner, and Cotto had never lost to a brawler save for Mr. Plaster Blaster.
