BETTER WIN: Pacquiao vs Barrera 1 or Mayweather vs Corrales?

Fine, lets revisit. MAB had just come off the biggest win of his career in beating Hamed. He was ranked p4p #3 and Pac had just stopped him despite coming up in weight from 122.

Corales was the top 130 champ, so was Floyd, Corales was ranked #5 p4p at the time, was coming off a divorce, was weight drained as didnt make weight and had to lose 17lbs and was facing prison time.

Yep, Corales revisiting the event was sure a bigger win.

You want proof? Look at my join date, on this forum alone. I was following boxing religiously way before so I know the exact sentiments at the time. I also remember the sentiments of ODLH would kill Pac, but I guess you dont want to revisit the event for that one and leave it to hindsight?

 

I've never even heard his train of thought ever. Not just in boxing, but in regards to life in general. To throw away the benefit of hindsight???? Who does that?

LETs revisit... De lahoya hadn't made 147 in 7 years and was forced to eat ostrich eggs to make weight, Came in at 145 and was a dead man walking in the ring that night, but lets just act like he beat a prime undefeated oscar De la Hoya for the sake of #pac tar dation......LOL

 

Alot of people were shocked bro, I remember that day like yesterday. I was in a hotel room with a honey and I remember telling her everyone underestimating Floyd, he might win a decision, but not by dropping the guy 5 times! I wasn't surprised he won, but more on HOW he won. Juuko fight really impressed me, I knew Chico was in for a long fight. Win or lose everyone loved Chico regardless bro, he wanted to continue despite being outmatched.

About MAB, the rematch he had with Jones, many felt he won and deserved it as well as his first fight with Morales. Imo, I think when MAB made his comeback post Jones he was at his best. Remember, similar to Pacquiao, MAB started his career at flyweight, won his first world title in 92. Skip to 2000, almost a decade later he's fighting a prime Erik Morales! Basically Morales was given a gift by the judges, most felt MAB won.

All good points. For me, I am biased because Diego and I boxed together out of Sac PAL and we were buddies.

Like I said previously, at the time I was more impressed and shocked with Mayweather's level of dominance over Corrales; however, when you look at the historical significance, the win over Barrera tops it.

Look people, no offence to anyone on here and i respect everyones opinion but i have to respectfully disagree with the poll... Floyd just wont get credit, and i doubt he will get credit when he beats pac in may... Just saying.

Yeah, you nailed it. The big thing here was not necessarily that Mayweather won, but the way he won. It wasn't just a win, it was complete destruction.

 

It makes my brain hurt just trying to understand the logic.
