    Name them.
Godfrey fought at professional level for almost 20 years and he fought 120 fights, having 22 losses is not that much in this case, especially if you're compared to Arreola.
Keep dreamining, Sharkey beat many big guys.

I'm talking about his style, not his fight against Sharkey. It's much harder to look good fighting agressively against good boxer like Sharkey.

My question was quite clear and specific...

Equally as clear are the reports describing a poor showing from Godfrey. I've no doubt Sharkey boxed excellently and did what he had to do with who he had in front of him. However, an 'aggressive' Godfrey, just didn't show up that night.

Fair enough, it's possible that Godfrey fought underwhelming in that fight. Did Arreola look good against Vitali in your opinion?

Do you prefer Godfrey's ball shot against Carnera, or Sharkey's ball shot against Schmeling?

If you don't want to discuss with me, just stop quoting me.

Seriously, this forum has strange fetish of "winning" during discussions. People rarely post here to share opinions and learn, they just try to defend their beliefs and make opponent look as bad as possible....

    No. But for different reasons.

Isn't that what you're doing? You're claiming Godfrey was as big as Arreola (a lie) and better than him. Existing footage shows him clumsily hugging Carnera over and over before putting him away with a ball shot.

It is hard to be sure exactly how good George Godfrey was, but even the most conservative reasonable estimate, would put him above Areola.

Are these kind of discussions the most emotional here in Classic? People are quite civil in the Ali-Tyson thread, which you perhaps would think would cause some venom, but this one and the one of McCallum vs pre-Robinson MWs are more heated.

Watch the Mitchell and Drummer Boy Molina fights. He even looked pretty good against Kownacki and Stiverne II.

How? Godfrey was half inch shorter, had longer reach and weighed within 215-270 lbs range throughout his prime. Arreola weighed within 229-262 lbs range, so he was heavier at his lighest, but didn't approach Godfrey's highest weight.

From 2008 to 2012, Arreola weighed 247.5 lbs on average.
From 1926 to 1930, Godfrey weighed 239 lbs on average.

I don't know, but to me it's close enough to call them the same size - especially because Arreola carries a lot of fat unlike Godfrey.
