Although amateur boxing is different than pro boxing, Thurman was beat many times as an amateur against guys who boxed his ears off.

He's a very good young fighter with tons of potential, but he doesn't have the experience yet to get in the ring with a master boxer like Mayweather. Having wins over those guys you mentioned are nice and all, but it's not going to get him ready to fight the P4P king.

Thurman should set his focus on trying to get a match with Porter, and the winner can be a possible opponent for FLoyd for one of his matches next year.

I like Bert Sugar even though he has a penchant for always talking so highly about fighters who hold a lot of nostalgia for him and berating present day fighters, but unless you show me an actual line where it shows Pacman a favorite, than I have to disagree with this.

I follow the lines of boxing on multiple websites. There's always going to be some variation on the betting lines from website to website, but I never saw any of the major betting websites that had Pacman a favorite in their fight.

I follow the lines very closely, I know what I'm talking about in this specific situation and even at pacman's culminating peak, he was never the favorite in a hypothetical matchup with FLoyd. I'm not going to backtrack on a comment I feel confident about.

And no offense to him, but he's never really given FLoyd his due props when he was alive. He can hypothesize all he wants on why FLoyd never fought Pacman and vice versa, but he doesn't know the actual reason. He's a glorified reporter with a good level of historical boxing knowledge. But he doesn't know what a fighter is thinking first hand, that's just one man's opinion and nothing more.

Well I don't want to argue since you closely watch all bookies but reports on media back then after the cotto and clottey fight that Pac - May almost even the line.

I googled some info and this is exactly what I remembered:

I wonder what's the line if he picked Khan instead? Mayweather is running out of GBP opponents.

Floyd would be around -250 to -300 against Pac

It doesn't have to be "True" odds, the action just has to be reasonably balanced. There would be plenty of people placing bets on Pacquiao. People don't usually place bets against the guy they want to win in a mega fight like that. For such a big event, you want to bet on your guy. We know there are plenty of Pac fans to keep the line down. The great Mexican hope Alvarez kept it under 300, so would Pacman, especially after 2 consecutive wins have the public believing he is back.

The line would be similar, but maybe a little lower

Sometimes these lines should be even higher. Its all about action though, and there aren't many people out there that want to risk 1000 to win 100. They want to take the big underdog

No doubt, it's a mismatch, BUT Maidana is deserving of this fight.

A Broner win gets you a shot at P4P worlds best ? Not for me.

Not really. It's just Mayweather is running out of opponents from GBP side and he has no choice but to take subpar competition.

If the odds were to be as huge as you think, I't would be worthwhile to bet a few dollars on Manny. Think what you want about Manny, but he would be the best fighter Floyd ever fought. Two ATGs in the ring. :bbb
