Yeah he's been doing great work for years, just starting to get the recognition. During the Shane/Margarito fight, I'll never forget these lines: "Knock the grease of this dude!" "Swim without getting wet!" Classic corner work! :rasta
Well he was working with PBF up until 2000, and he'd already taken over the super-featherweight division by then, and he trained him when he was an amateur etc aswell so obviously Floyd taught him all the fundamentals, Roger maybe took him a couple of other tricks but the basis of PBF is Floyd Sr trained. And then obviously he's got guys like Dawson, & Guzman aswell.
He only trained Dawson for one fight. Dwight Muhammed Qauwi (sp) has been training Chad and Chad as shown improvement under him. I've been impressed.
I remember him being in prison when Floyd turned pro. I think Roger has had more influence on Floyd. Floyd Sr. talks, but I don't see the results to believe he's a top 5 trainer!
Who was Chad fighting when Floyd trained him? You have to be impresed with Guzman aswell, I know he doesn't fight often and he's lazy but he's very talented. He's risen from 122 to 135 and matched up well with everybody along the way.
I don't remember. He only trained Chad for like a month. Guzman has natural talent that does not equate to his performance in the ring so either he's just too lazy or Floyd Sr. can't get it out of him. I don't see the results!
wow...i thought nacho was gonna sweep. mainly cause nacho has created fighters while others only have a name or two on their resume....
I think Roach and Nacho is a draw. Nacho is excellent in producing great technical boxers one at a time, hes not the greatest when it comes to switching trainees, hes more like a permanent trainer who sticks to his fighters. Roach is Really good at shaping already great fighters but I dont think he has had much success besides Pac. As for Nazzim well I always thought he was just a great defensive coach but the work he did with Mosley was impressive i need to see more of his work to rate him above these two.
what exactly did he do with mosley :huh mosley fought how mosley always fights....except for the clinching maybe, but he's always done that
Thats what im saying when has Mosley clinched? compare how Mosley fought in the Cotto fight to the Margo fight. That was a completely different Mosley. I know they are different opponents but Mosleys defense was increased dramatically it will show in his next fight.
Freddie Roach , he is from the same cloth as Thell Torrance, Hedgemon Lewis, who worked under Eddie Futch , who worked with Joe louis as sparring partner , while louis was being trained my Jack Blackburn .. all stems originally from Detroit...
Chad Dawson and Floyd Sr had a pretty nasty split. I wanna say around the Adamek fight. Floyd Sr said Chad Dawson was ******ed and couldn't listen to sound advice
