If there was a welterweight version of Pavlik, Tarver, Pascal..Mayweather would make them look so foolish.

No one said it was a crime to be gifted in any particular area. You use what you got to your advantage. Some with extra talent or extra abilities that are above and beyond the norm get away with things others couldn't, which is why they need to be more sound technically.

Floyd is sound...but to say he's MORE SKILLED defensively than Nard is pushing it....matter of fact it's completly false. He may be more effective overall but again....that's due to his abnormal level of talent with a good balance of skills.

Nard is better defensive from a technical standpoint...Floyd is more talented which was never in question.

so pretty much, with Floyd's athleticism and skill combined, he has a better defense than Bernard right?

Because if you took away Manny's athleticism, wouldn't his offense be ****?

That's why it's not far to say somebody has a better defense because he's not as athletic, but I get what you're saying. He's better on a skill and technique level, but overall Floyd is a better defender.

And another thing is Floyd's defense is better than ever, but he was way more athletic when he was younger. (Just throwing that out there:good)

I see what your saying. But you can't say if Floyd wasn't athletic then Hopkins has better defense. The point is with his physical gifts he is better. Stats show he is better and he hasn't been put on his ass. Everyone knows Hopkins is more skilled than Roy. But if they fought in their prime Roy would win. If you factor in defensive skill, and athletic gifts Floyd comes out the winner.

Not necessarily.......Floyd has a nice combination and BALANCE of both, but he could definitely be BETTER defensively from a technical or skills stand point. Which is no knock....Floyd is probably one of the best boxers from a skills and ability standpiont, but he is definitely in a very small group in terms of the kind of talent this guy is.

Floyd is undefeated but has shown defensive Flaws from time to time. Nard has as well but most of those flaws come from being old and a half a step behind his younger opposition.

But I think Nard's Defense is better, where Floyd is overall a more complete boxer based on his talent level.

Nard has only been just recently ROCKED where Floyd has been hurt a few times throughout his caeer.....But they have very similar percentages in offense that they are taking.

If you take Manny's athletisim away he wouldn't be **** at all. His offesneive skills are some of the best in the sport WITH OR WITHOUT his athletic qualities.

He has a great array of punches, he has great balance and has great technique. His athletic ability let him do things that his peers can't based on his speed, reflexes and explosiveness as a fighter but make no mistake his skills are solid.

I do agree Floyd's Defesne is better now than ever, but he's still very pretty much at his PEAK physically.

Only two tests at Welter and neither should have been so tough.
Judah and Mosley. Both are fighters destroyed by the 2 best Welters he has avoided for years, Cotto & Pac. Judah knocked Floyd down with the right hook and Mosley hurt him badly. In BHOP's case he is constantly fighting the young dangerous champions and making them look silly. Hopkins is miles better defensively and vs much stronger competition. Looks like this is the way it will be noted forever.

You clown he went up in weight and fought Oscar. Also he fought at lower weights. Don't talk about one weight class when you know he fought in more.
