I think, maybe, we should give him a break! He has retired, not wanting to fight anymore, let him enjoy his retirement with all his faculties intact!

And heart, motivation and dedication to that and the answer is a clear no.

Never had a chance of hapenning. For him to fight that long, he'd have to have fought guys ranked highly, but not in the position to pay his ego-ness what he wanted. So there was never a chance of that happening. Floyd took the "DLH route" to greatness. Biggest (recognizable) name, most money, easiest route to belts...

Don't think so, I mean he has the right style as he hasn't taken too much punishment over the years, but a guy like Hops is a freak of nature... and as Floyd's speed and reflexes go ,and with all his hand problems, it's more likely that he'll retire by his mid 30's.

Floyd doesn't share Hopkins respect for the game and the history of the game. He already feels he's better than Sugar Ray Robinson, why would he fight that long?

  11. NO- He admitted on 24/7 that his body was getting tired and he has hand problems...

Hopkins could probaly fight until he's 51:deal HE's crafty, has always kept in shape and can take a good punch, guy's like that are EXTREMELY RARE IN THIS SPORT..

:good:good:good his speed and reflex are his best attributes. if he continued to fight even until he was 35, i think he would follow a similar path of rjj.

father time is the only enemy that no fighter was able to beat. but i think he could have fought 2-3 years before he retired.

    I have to agree here.

Floyd's main motivation was always money. Not legacy, not fight the best, (though as we all know he did fight some good'uns), it was money. Now the guy must be worth what, 75, 100, 150 million?
He's fulfilled his main motivation to box, hell, he said it himself about the fighters out there, 'What can they bring to the table?'.
Not every fighter out there can bring a $45 million payday like Hatton did. So without the cash, his heart and dedication falls by the wayside.
He had a good run. I just wish he fought everyone, but I won't hold retirement against him.

most guys cannot fight until they are 44. Hopkins is an exception. How he does it I am not sure. But, one of these days the age will show up. What is in his favor is that he was never stopped.
