The longest answer in the interview is an irrelevant answer about Mayweather. Yet if May makes 1 or 2 comments about Pac after being asked it's "he can't keep Pacs name out his mouth".
Actually, the very start of hip-hop or at least 'rap' was more practically and not so high-minded. It was all about the house parties in the late 70s and early 80s in NY (some say Bronx, some say Queens). It had nothing to do with social awareness issues. That came later. While there are positive rappers and MC and other artists, many do not sell or have the success that more artists who plays on negative stereotypes. In the end, this is just a music genre. It is heavily influenced by the 'streets' (both positive and negative) and also by the American penal system (mostly negative). You can't really blame just the artist or record executive. It takes the artists, the executives, CONSUMERS, radio, MTV, magazines, etc to make the machine work.
B-Hop made some good points...I love Floyd the boxer but some of the **** he does and says outside of the ring really have me scratching my head at times. Great boxer but quite immature imo
At that time it wasn't defined as Hip Hop culture. The cultural movement within hip hop came later with Afrika Bambaataa. At no point am i considering it "high minded". It just is what it is.
You are making an arbitrary judgment. Rap to hip-hop is an evolution with no one particular artist, time or event that can be said 'This is when it happened.' It is a genre and like all musical genres there are overlap with others. And didn't Arfrika Bambaataa said it himself that graffiti and dancing where core components of the 'hip-hop' culture? (forgot which article or book I read that from).
If Bhop is to talk about anybody ...why the hell isn't he talking about Chad Dawson thats the fighter he needs to talk about if anything...The man has called him out 3 times all ready ....BHOp is smart ..yeah smart enough to take your PPV money picking fighters he know he can beat.....again I say ...Why is Bhop still fighting if he didn't love the money...and again I say why is he picking fighters that he can beat ....there's a fighter name CHAD DAWSON who Floyd says he one of the best fighters out here today. CHAD DAWSON ..CHAD DAWSON...CHAD DAWSON... Bhop fights him his Money days are over..
Bernard is clearly more intelligent and mature than floyd, but then again... who was ever accusing Mayweather of actually being any sort of "street"???
I feel that Bhop made some good points but the things he said comes with age and surroundings in due time. Let me make a few points on why you see floyd do some of the things he does. Floyd was born in Grand Rapids Michigan which is a poor city here in Michigan. Floyd was on a path to be successful in boxing from day 1 of his life. He had to let his peers run the streets while he was in the gym. So Floyd probably didnt have many friends because he was doing something totally different from what they were doing at the time. Bhop was in the streets when Floyd was in the gym. The gym was Floyd streets. Floyd lives in Las Vegas now far from Michigan and he probably has very few real friends he grew up with cause he left so many behind on his path to success. So know he looks toward other celebrities for friendships cause thats who he is around now. Yeah he trys to fit in but thats his only choice. Bhop is still in and around Philly on the daily basis and around people he's known his whole life(Street guys and all). Floyd is nowhere near his hometown and its hard to stay humble when you far away from that grime and dirt you once called home. Floyd dont have old heads around him to school him to different ****. He has his Dad and Roger and all they know is boxing and drugs hate to say it. They never really had **** and only got **** now because of lil Floyd. He spent so many years not talking to his Dad and i think it shows now. Hopefully in due time he will grow older and wiser and learn a few things now to make him a better man in the future. I already see him growing up . He has since said he will not make it rain in the clubs anymore because he knows now how stupid that is. Time will make Floyd a better man in the future fellas.
