So you think that hip-hop had it's start out in Queensbridge

If you popped that junk up in the Bronx you might not live

Because the fact that they automatically jump to a bunch of ignorant racist terms show that they don't care to know?

The White (or any other ethnicity of) people who know? Know. The rest? Oh well. Same people talking about FMJ have gigantic plasma TV's, bass boats, $40 metal lighters, $250 cowboy boots, and V10 super duty trucks with no retirement savings. Still they don't equate what they do with waste, thuggery, or being a braggart.

The people who are open minded don't make the comments. For the others, no explanation for them is good enough. Why bother?

So buying plasma tv's makes you a thug-wannabe?

It isn't the fact that Floyd's rich, it's the way he acts. A lot of people are rich, but they don't act like insecure 12 year olds.

I love hearing Bernard talk. Very honest. He was saying Floyd is a phony is what I got out of reading this.

No simpleton. Waste is waste. However when a Black guy wastes it on a gold chain? Thug. When a White guy wastes it on a giant plasma TV? It fits your BS worldview. So you just think, "Guy buying what he likes."

You are a judgmental child. FMJ's issue is the fact that he has been locked up perfecting his craft his entire life. If you want to understand FMJ better look at guys like Michael Jackson and ODLH. Guys who never had childhoods.

    :huh

What are you talking about? Anyone who was around back then knows that Queens had nothing to do with the start of hip hop. And MC Shan never said "Hip Hop" started in Queensbridge. Not him, not Marley Marl, Mr. Magic, nor anyone in the Juice Crew. The song "The Bridge" never even made that claim. And KRS simply used it to propel himself into more of a mainstream role.

It's funny how someone can quote a song from 1985-86 as if that qualifies them as an expert. You're in over your head, son. This convo is not for the General, it's more of a lounge convo, but I will continue the lessons of you like...

It isn't about the culture it is just what the culture identifies with and the label misinformed people chose to apply to it. What you think is cool. I may think is crap. And vice-versa.

You buy glass-packs. He buys bass tubes. You buy Limited Edition Jordans. He buys ostrich skin cowboy boots. You wear it baggy. He wears it skin tight. It is all just symbols that in one way or another signal to chicks or your peer group your "status". The problem is when you apply some BS criminal stereotype over one group's "symbols", but don't see the hypocrisy in your conclusion.

I can't speak for all Black culture anymore than one White/Hispanic/Asian man can speak for all of their culture. I can just tell you what I interpret from an event. You got to meet and interact with many people of a culture THEN extract a narrative.

Wow, I want to cry now. A lot of people didn't have great childhoods. Manny Pac had a 100x worse childhood then Floyd. Does he act like an insecure jackass?

It has nothing to do with what Floyd buys. Jay-Z buys gold chains and nice cars, but people like him because he doesn't act like a clown.

Floyd is an insecure 33 year old. He's bought into the whole fake-MTV-rap culture and he's insecure about himself.
