Are you guys really excited about this fight? I have been a big Bhop fan Since I saw him beat the WBC champ in the mw tournament. However, i'm not all that excitedd about the fight.

Calzaghe and Benard should switch opponents. Pavlik vs Calzaghe and Bhop vs RJJ makes much more sense.

I'm not excited about the prospect of watching it because in fairness Hopkins isn't what you'd call entertaining, however I am a bit excited about the outcome because it will give a good indication of whether Pavlik can handle a clever fighter at a higher weight, and give a good indication aswell on how much B-Hop has left in the tank.

    lol - what he said.

Although EVERYONE makes more money if Pavlik and Calzaghe win.

RJJ vs BHop - Both lost against Calzaghe
Calz vs Pavlik - Both beat Hopkins

    anyone?

Pavlik should fight Abraham, that's the fight that needs to happen at MW. After that, Pavlik can fight whoever he wants. I'm not saying Pavlik is taking the easy way here tho, B-HOP is one of the most difficult fighters to face, and he's a legend. Probably this fight will sell more in the US than Pavlik-Abraham, but remember that Pavlik-Abraham would be a big fight in Germany too. All in all Pavlik-Abraham would be the internationally bigger fight, and more important for the MW divison and thus boxing.

    I agree with you.

I'm sure Americans in general think that Pav is the best thing since sliced bread but the rest of the world isn't that sold on him. If he beats up Abraham and cleans out a few other MWs then he's got a bold claim to step up a bump some of those oldies in the higher divisions out of the equasion.

I'm not really thrilled about Pavlik/BHop. However, Hopkins is a much better opponent than Mora, Williams, Duddy, or Rubio. Very early next year Pavlik will fight either Abraham or Calzaghe. Fighting either of those guys immediately after an 8 month lay off would be a very bad idea. Plus the man just got married and he's got a kid, et. He 's got bills to pay. So, he definitely needs an interim fight. In additon, even an old worn out version of BHop will give Pavlik a chance to progress along the learning curve.

I actually think this is a Murder fight for BHop I dont see the point in him taking this fight, HBO loves the idea of this fight simply because of Hopkins recent statement about lossing to a white boy, mark my words if Pavlik knocks out Hopkins HBO will say now Hopkins has lost to two whiteboys.
setting up a Pavlik Calzaghe showdown in the future with the common opponent theme attached to the count down special
