I initially though Bhop was a bit of an arrogant ***** to be honest, especially some of the stuff he has done though out his career, however after watching him after the fight with Pavlik I have gained a bit of respect for the guy. After the decision he went to pavlik and said some nice things to him about not letting the fight effect him and how he could develope his game plan. I thought that was a great thing to do and respect to him for it especially as he did not need to do it. Pavlik needs to develope quicker hand speed, combinations and more lateral movement instead of fighting in straight lines, he will become a great in my eyes when he does that. :thumbsup :thumbsup to bhop.
I must say that I tough I would never say it about the guy but he is a pretty nice guy. I think he is just highly strung and and likes to put a show on to try and intimidate. But; hey boxing is no fairytale so he is justified to some degree to do what he does although he does push the limits somtimes. I would like to see a calzaghe hopkins rematch.
he should have an oscar as he is brushing up on his acting skills....if pavlik won he would have been calling him all the ****s under the sun,he is a bad loser and unsporting. the one thing i did admire him for was helping out that kid from philly who had cancer. that was him being decent as a person, but as a boxer no.
He acts fine towards people he just beats...but acts terrible in defeat. Its pretty shocking the way he gives Calzaghe zero respect:-(
Yeah he's great when hes just beat someone, but I thought he was pretty patronsing after the Pavlik fight, he milked the situation much more than he should have.
Although i think very highly of Bhop as fighter, he is the type of person that you would think is a total tool if you met them outside of the scheme of boxing.
There was that story about him and that boy that died that really touched me and made me respect him. Also the fact that he went to Roy Jones's locker room after the fight says alot about his character as well. Many things can be misconstrued by the press and media and especially by hype and build up to fights.
Hopkins is a good winner but a bad loser. Lots of boxers are disrespectful before a fight that's just the way it is but his antics during the Calzaghe fight and the blatant disrespect afterwards towards Joe showed what a ***** the man can be.
