Agreed about Washington. He looks the part but honestly he's horrendous. His foot work his awful, he can't control range at all, especially when you throw in that jab which has no snap and is just pushed out. Washington is fine when he just stands there but when forced to move, especially backwards his feet are all over the place, he also does this weird little hop thing when moving sometimes, not sure if he's boxing or in a night club dancing lol. He also throws hooks in a weird way, you can tell he came to the sport late the technique is all over the place. And yes he quickly ran out of ideas once he realised his punches couldn't keep Miller at range and his movement wasn't good enough to evade Miller. He doesn't know how to clinch, that alone would of shut down a lot of Miller's opportunities.
Miller is basically a bigger and more powerful Chisora which is not a bad thing, he needs to get in better shape though.
Considering how late he came to the sport it's pretty impressive how well he picked up the rudiments. His jab isn't that bad, but he doesn't have that innate understanding of how to move in the ring and cannot get his body into his power shots, which is partly why he's so feather fisted at his height and weight. His hooks and uppercuts literally looked like he was just moving his arm in an arc until it hit the target, no use of the legs, no torque, no snap. His biggest fault though is how easily he gets discouraged. He seems very easy to mentally break down if you apply consistent pressure to him. Mansour laid the blueprint but was just a shade too small to get the job done.
I don't really see the Chisora comparisons to be honest, I mean any more than you can compare him to any face forward brawler in the division. He doesn't employ any head movement, which was a big part of Chisora's style, and only fights coming forward, trusting to his sheer bulk to steamroll opponents. Literally a walking tank. His style reminds me more of a super crude Solis crossed with Ian Lewison, plodding stalker with clubbing power, albeit his workrate is impressive for a big man.
Chisora has better punch output and variety, probably better head movement. Miller is crude in his attack and uses his bulk to just bulldoze to a victory. I wasn't overly impressed but not underwhelmed either. Hopefully he moves on and we can see him in with the likes of Chisora, Whyte et al.
Right. There's more in common with Miller and Kownacki than there is any pairing in the HW division. Charr and Chisora are closer to each other than anyone else.
He looked better to me than Chisora or Whyte, I'd say he's more of a poor-man's David Tua than Chisora. If he trimmed down a bit and got his movement up a bit he could REALLY be a problem for the bigger guys, but still favour him over Whyte and Chisora right now.
Miller is like the third level of Frazier in heavyweight boxing evolution. Frazier evolves to Chisora. Chisora evolves to Miller. Thus: Miller>Chisora>Frazier. Underdog has finally become bulldog. Time to release the hound!
