Watching John's up and down career over the years i've found myself at this point genuinely hoping he does someday win the British title that up to this point evades him. How can you not like a man who's fought the best domestically over the years, never ducked a challenge and keeps classy and refrains from trash talk.

He's taken some abuse from peers over the years as well as fans but keeps grinding on. He's never going to be body beautiful but the Big Man keeps going on his pursuit of the British Heavyweight title!.

After last nights win over Matt Skelton and Price being with Maloney it could well mean that McDermott may get first dibs at a vacant title.

Now this guys been through it all, Tough decisions against him. But he's still there fighting and winning. I for one hope he captures the British title.

In Ifilm interview last night he claims he's given Povetkin a tough time in sparring!.

Anyways John wants a British title and he's big and bad! and Hungry ;) .

If John wins the British title we go mental :yep :happy.

John is a fat ****, there is no denying that and many on here will know exactly how I feel about that, BUT he is a hell of a tryer, he has skills and he also has a big old ford transit engine. I was chuffed to **** for him last night.

** I got slagged off on here last night by some Jocko, probably Glaswegian poster, for calling John a fat ****....I dont mind being slagged off and ****ed about with but the fact remains that John is a fat ****, he knows it and we all know it but he can still pull decent performances out of the bag....Good on you big John

He's got great hands, puts his punches together better than anyone around that level.

Nice one lads :happy. I agree Ice, TBH i find it fascinating how in that shape he somehow boxes at a decent speed and good intensity. Kind like David Attenborough when he watches Animals i marvel at the Brentwood Beast as he boxes his way to victory.

Anyone remember when Sky passed him off as this thinking mans HW?. ''The Artist'' or some bollocks . Him painting pictures and being this lovely mover. The lad can box that's for sure...

Depends who he fights for the British title when Price vacates- if it's someone like Chisora he has little chance, if it's someone like Sprott then it's a possibility.

It's amazing after all these years that him and Sprott have never fought each other..

Does he really work in a burger van? I heard somewhere he was a metal sheet worker.

I like the bloke. Yes he's a big fat blob, yes he'll never move past British level and yes he can't fight for 5 minutes without getting knackered but I still like him. He's fought everyone there is to fight at British level in the past few years and usually it's good to watch. He's fought Fury twice, Price, Olubamiwo, Danny Williams twice and now Matt Skelton twice. He's been on the end of some really rotten decisions over the years, about time he had some luck go his way. I'd like to see him fight for and win the British title (likely against Towers now). I'd be happy for the big flabby ****er to finally get his hands on it.

If McDermott can't lose weight, thats not a huge problem because it doesn't seem to effect him in the usual ways, in particular, stamina. However, I don't understand why he has so little muscle. He not one of those big, fat strong blokes who look like they can walk through a wall. He's just...out of shape, like he's never been in a gym before.

I'm not just going on a rant here because I like McDermott a lot, I just wish he had a bit more muscle on his frame. I think it'd make him a better fighter too.

Anyway, I'm on the express! Big Bad John is a warrior and I'd love to see him in some big fights. Fury and Price are both beyond him, but he can be the best of the rest.

I can tell. Probably has a KFC bucket to himself every evening after training. Rewards himself with a large coke and some sauce dip if he wins a fight.

He's one fighter who i'd like to of seen his training regime. I get impression he does his runs and pads and sparring. Don't think S&C was on his agenda looking at him.

Of course he has muscle, and probably lots of it.
