Sportingbet bookmaker had priced up the Groves fight on Monday.

    Groves 1/14
    Anderson 13/2
    Anderson by KO 9/1

Within 3 days they priced up the fight as

    Groves 1/6
    Anderson 5/1
    Anderson by KO 6/1

Now they have suspended the market and are not taking any bets on the fight for the foreseeable future.

Their mistake was pricing Groves at 1/14. Ridiculous odds. Anderson at 13/2 and 9/1 for the KO was a bit much. I backed both of those. Anderson is 12-0 with 8 KOs and a very good amatuer background. Groves is unproven really as a pro. this is a tough fight for him, against an unbeaten prospect. While I think he will win, it won't be easy.

Why have they suspended the market rather than further ad******g the odds?

In fairness to sportingbet they do stick there neck on the line with boxing match ups and often price up fights well in advance ... I got 4/11 Lopez now there 2/7 !

1/14 for a Groves win is ridiculous. Who comes up with these odds?

not only sporting act in that way but it does sound pretty shitty

usually they claim palpable error if priced up wrong way round like ladbrokes did with molitor/booth, if they just compiled wrong in my experience they have settled without problem, in the case of groves/adamu and ortiz/campbell

Lets hope the honour the bets put on. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't honour the bets.

Also, expect Groves to open up at around 1/4, 1/5 ish. That's still short enough but should be the odds.

they cant claim they were a mistake if they gradually came in , but if they shot down quickly with no other odds in the middle then your bets will get voided rightly or wrongly

He's no more proven as a pro than Groves though - how could you say otherwise? Groves has fought similar opposition.

be interesting to see if they reopen the market and if they do, what price they have groves at.
