Quite a size disparity there. Norfolk actually leaped a couple times to land a punch. Very cool to see this video.

Seen it before, RAREBOXING is back :happy

McGrain, why the  The Einstein related avy or not impressed by the footage? Norfolk leaps, smothers and feints his way to an impressive showing IMO, considering the size of the opponent anyway.

great post. norfolk has some walcott moves. people may mock big bill but he took the great harry wills to a draw for the "black heavyweight title" around the time of the dempsey firpo fight.

It's just that Big Bill looks like a 6'6, 240 pound heavy bag. But Norfolk is quick and explosive.

Norfolk looks VERY formidable. Looks like a great fighter. More indirect evidence of Greb's abillity also.

I suspect Tate is tanking this fight.
He makes no effort to fend off his opponent, certainly isn't trying to win from what we can see there.
I guess that's how the big guy made his living. Toured with Dempsey too.

Yes, Tate does very, very little.

Tate is hysterically bad. Even if he's tanking, he can't even do that right.

I think he's doing a great job of tanking it.

In a good tank job, a fighter will look but slightly over-matched. Tate just looks like a big, helpless baby.

Well, from the comments I've read on this footage on other threads a lot of people here seem to assume the fight is on the level. If I'm right and he was tanking, Tate deserves some credit at least.

You seem determined to denigrate the man. Yeah, you're right he looked inept here but he took his knocks and earned his pay (tank job or not), a very hard way for a man to earn a living. Most bums and tank-artists go down at the first whiff of trouble.

He looks absolutely terrible. If it's a denegration to point this out, then yes, i'm very keen to denigrate him. Never, ever, in all my years of putting performances to the records of various fighters as footage has become available, have I ever seen such a terrible performance relative to reputation.
